In German, “weizen” means “wheat.” So, as the name implies, this unfiltered wheat beer leaves yeast in suspension. Our Dry Heat Hefeweizen is a 70% wheat malt, making it a light and refreshing ale. This beer is perfect for a hot day!

Maybe I would like this better in 115 degree heat but on a 65 degree winter night (I know right) I just don't see point. I was talked into ordering a sampler and found this and a number of the other beers to be very bland. will review some of the others later but this was just dull to my tastes.

bennetj17 was The CAN Man in a recent trade that garnered me a whole buncha new CANs for The CANQuest (TM) and after a week-and-a-half spent in BAL and WASDC, I am ready to CAN up and drink some beer!

From the CAN: "Life is a Trip ... Take Mudshark's Handcrafted Brew Along for the Ride"; "Recycle"; "This is not your standard beer in a can. Micro-brewed for maximum flavor, Dry Heat Hef is crisp & refreshing ... an oasis in the desert. Serve cold with a twist of lemon to beat the heat."; "An Unfiltered Wheat Beer"; "Copper Canyon [thataway] The Sand Bar [thisaway]".

The Crack & Glug resulted in a finger of fizzing French Vanilla head with poor retention. Color was a cloudy orangish-yellow. Nose had an orange zest citrus scent that was both unexpected and unusual. My take - as long as it did not smell like a buncha overripe bananas, I was down with it. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but not just existing, either. The taste was quite unusual, more like a liquefied roll of Tropical Fruit LifeSavers (coconut, mango, tangerine, banana, guava) than hefeweizen. Wow! Not to style? Who cares? Not me! This was eminently drinkable as evidenced by half the glass disappearing while I gathered wool. Finish was fruity, but not cloyingly sweet. Bump that lemon nonsense, throw some in a cooler and prepare to beat the heat! I am a fan!

(12oz can from Total Wine Desert Ridge). Pours somewhat hazy yellow despite the fact that the can says unfiltered. Much closer to a kristallweizen. White head disippates quickly. Aroma has some wheat, coriander, and some over-ripe banana. Taste is semi sweet with a weird twang to it. Slightly bitter. Thin bodied with am oily textur. Not that refreshing because of the aftertaste. Not very good. I've had homebrewed versions that were better.

another extra blind from Phelps to cover a few broken bottles from last round.
Poured from a 12 oz. can into a pink glass.

A - Pours a slightly hazy copper color with an inch of white foam that quickly faded to a layer of white bubbles.

S - Slight citrus notes and not alot more.

T - hmm, this is interesting. I'm not picking up alot of hops like I was expecting, but more of a bit of sourness, but more like grapefruit sour with some biscuit notes. There appears to be a bit of a metallic and soapy taste to it as well that i'm not that fond of. I'm just really undecided on if I like this or not.

M - light-medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation.

D - I'm starting to lean toward not liking this one very much. Its not bad, but there is something off about it. Although, props for canning their beer.

Poured from the can at the AmeriCAN Canned Craft Beer Fest.

Cloudy apricot in color, hazed with yeast. A one-finger head of foamy white bubbles hangs around for a bit before becoming a medium-sized, lingering ring. Some spattered lace.

The nose is rather sweet and fruity. Wheat, crackers, hints of apple and very light banana offset by tangy grain.

Breadier in the flavor. Grain, wheat and biscuits make up the malt side, while apples and hints of pear exemplify the fruit.

Light, prickly carbonation. The soft medium body pops with just a bit of fizz as it moves. The beer needs a cleaner finish — it kind of hangs on the tongue after each sip.

Average all around. I haven’t been a fan of many canned hefeweizens (or American hefs, for that matter) and this beer exemplifies why: dearth of flavor. This isn’t one I would seek it out again.

I've always enjoyed this beer when visiting family in my hometown of Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

This beer is served in cans within the region now, but advise visiting the brewhouse and enjoying a glass or two on tap. I haven't read too many good reviews on the cans.

The beer pours a nice yellow to golden color, slightly cloudy with a white smooth head, into a weizen style glass, and holds nicely.

The taste of Mudshark's Hefe is unique, I feel, with a slightly different taste combination of wheat, fruit, lemon, orange and spices. On a hot 110F+ day, on the lake, this beer is crisp and refreshing with a slight dry and burnt aftertaste.

As the beer begins to warm at the end of the glass, taste mellows a bit becoming more of a wheaty flavor and dry.

A - Pours small near white head, murkly light honey.

S - 1/8 of the usual smell for a Hefe. Light straw and barn, light malt center.

T - Exactly matching Smell. Light, as if someone mixed a hefe with some water.

M - Did I say light. Not much here to talk about.

D - Now, if I was mowing the lawn...

12 ounce can acquired in a trade with Gueuzedude as an extra, split with my roommate again, also poured into my Ommegang Three Philosophers glass

A-Light golden yellow color, looks fairly murky, small 1/4 inch white foamy head that settled almost immediately, not much retention or lacing

S-Lots of wheat and orange peel, also some lemon, grass, faint spice aromas, bready malt, and surprisingly some white grapes

T-Tasted very watery, strong wheat and lemon zest at the beginning, faded into a weak yeasty taste, then some minor clove in the finish but not enough, this one needed some more spice to battle with the citrus and lack of wheat, not much to it, could have used some banana flavors like most Hefeweizens tend to have these days, not balanced

M-Very thin body, too much carbonation, big bubbles too, taste did not last, watered down, somewhat dry mouthfeel

D-Could drink a lot of this on a hot day, cannot taste any alcohol and light on the stomach, low ABV, smooth and maybe too easy to drink

One dimensional hefeweizen, would taste much better in hot weather, funky aftertaste turned me away, did not expect much after reading the other reviews, would not drink again or recommend it to anybody
