This place has been here for 30 years, and has had a good beer selection for just as long according to the current owner. Taped to one of the beer coolers are old photos from the early 80's, of bar patrons drinking unusual import beers for the time. Inside the bar is dark and carpeted, an old sailor propped up at the end of the bar to freak out first time visitors (like myself). Lots of interesting old breweriana and sports memorabilia, including a bottle from defunct local brewery Old Port Brewing, and a bottle of Westvleteren 12. The place shows it's age, but is well-worn and loved. A classic old school beer bar feel, similar to Toronado but cleaner.

They stock close to 500 beers here, and the selection rivals bars in Milwaukee. The owner and his son tend the bar, and are more than willing to chat beer for as long as you want. The beer list is alphabetical, and pages long. The front page lists new arrivals, which they also update on their facebook page. Among them were Jolly Pumpkin, Nebraska Brewing, Chouffe, and more.

We chatted with the owner the whole time we were there, and he mentioned some upcoming tap takeovers and possibly hosting a firkin tapping sometime in the near future.

If you're anywhere nearby, Sir James Pub is certainly worth a detour...

Although this place is hidden in little old Port Washington, this place is one of the beer gems in all of the Midwest. With staff that knows the in and outs of beer to a selection that trumps almost any in the Midwest Sir James Pub is a must stop destination for any beer lover!

One of Wisconsin's hidden gems. This place is run by true beer geeks/lovers. Over 500 beers from all over the world, most in bottles of course, but very quaint and understated, dive-like atmosphere, but that's what makes it perfect to go in and try something you've never been able to and it makes it possible to talk to the staff who have a good handle on anything and everything. These guys know what their entire stock tastes like and give good recommendations. If you are ever in the Milwaukee area, take the 20 minute detour north and visit this place, one of my favorite hang outs while I lived there.

Best bar in Port Washington, Period. Great overall selection and nice on-tap selection. I had Lake Front's IBA and a Kilt Lifter scotch ale, both on tap. Bar tender was very knowledgable and had some amazing stories. The bar is an older sort of vintage dark wood style with faux stain glass window/bar lights that I like. There is a medieval theme to go with a lot of sports memorabilia. We were there on a beautiful Sunday afternoon so the bar was empty, can't wait to go back on a Friday or Saturday.
