Located in the Quaker Ridge strip mall The Beer Neccesities (TBN) is the companion store to The Grape Exchange- also located on the same strip.
What sets the store apart from other beer shops, I believe, is the wood finishing everywhere. The bar/checkout, the bar/tap area, the center aisle, and all the shelves are a dark wood and give the store a very warm and inviting feeling.
The staff is often behind the checkout bar and are quick to offer a "Hello, how can I help?". It's a medium sized store with a fairly good selection of beers and BBQ sauces/hot sauce. Because of their size they don't always get the rarest whales but they are good for a BCBS or a Hopslam.
Basically, they are always going to have something you want (Unless you are solely a whale hunter).

Was in the area for a party so I stopped in. Numerous beers on for growler fill. Very large selection of singles (bottles and cans) and bombers. All beers I looked at were within freshness date which you don't find often. The staff was very helpful especially the guy filling growlers. Prices on things I can get locally were slightly higher (Stone, Sierra Nevada, Founders, etc). I don't frequent the area but I will definitely stop in next time I am for stuff I can't get in CT. Cheers!

While TBN is mostly a craft beer shop, the food selection, however small, is quite good. Whether you simply want BBQ sauce or a take home home, you won't be disappointed.
The beer selection is quite nice, covering the gammat (sp) of different beers. There's a good selection of growler fills and a lot of bottled/canned beer to choose from. As a Scottish ale drinker, there is always a nice variety for me (not something that other craft beer shops can say).
The place is clean. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I like going here.

Only been open six weeks as of today. The stats list this as 15 growlers, and they did have 15 (or at least today they did) - they will fill outside glass and prices were reasonable on growler fills. Don't know how frequently they're filling as I was only person in there today.
The selection of New York beers is solid, and the prices are in line with or better on six packs. Their selection of singles is comprehensive but they don't seem to make many full six packs or cases available. And the prices on their singles aren't great for buying in bulk ($2.49 and up). They do offer a 10% discount on the mixed six.
This dude "Chef Johnson" of www.chefjohnson.com is also there. Which makes for a nice addition and good reason to pick this place over another local.
Not as good a selection as the Ardsley deCiccos, or even the Pelham one. However, they do have the growler fills which Pelham does not have.
Dislike that there is so much exposed to light beer in the front of the store and that they have very very few options in the cooler, which is 50% bmc.

Mid sized new place in a larger strip mall, just a few miles from the Hutch in upscale New Rochelle, NY. They boast a wall of quality bottles along the left wall as you enter and a dozen or so grewler fill options to the rear. Counter pressure fills are a nice plus. Some options in a cooler unit also in the rear. Sauces, marinades, salsas, artisinal cheeses, some pre-made comfort foods, chips and snacks add the foodie vibe. Plenty of quality beer options, check beermenus.com for the updated info. Expect a quality selection of a bunch of the widely availble good stuff. Do not expect rarities. New place with potential, they are trying to provide a quality beer exoerience and to "respect beer". Sadly, it did pain me to see a salesperson try to answer a customers questions by quickly reading the bottle's labels, he clealry was clueless..what's a "triple" whats a "porter", you say there's "spices" in that beer, what spices? Clueless...
Decent place to pick up a range of bottles and counter pressure filled growlers. Dont expect rarities or beer expertise from the staff...
