Dark chocolate color with toasty notes of fresh brewed espresso. Medium mouth feel with a slightly nutty yet velvety finish.

12 ounce bottle -> snifter
A - pours a deep opaque mahogany/almost black with an initial one inch khaki head, no real retention or lacing.
S - coffee and chocolate and smoke oh my, fairly strong
T - very sweet and malty with coffee and chocolate flavors and a finish that is smoky (but not as smoky as say Stone SmokedPorter). Also some lemon notes present in the finish. Barely perceptible alcohol warming, but it is there.
M - average thickness and carbonation
O - underwhelming

12 oz bottle into a teku.
Appearance: Pours a very dark brown color. The head is a finger high and mocha in shade. Retention sucks, more or less - at least a nice ring of lacing is left behind. (3)
Smell: Nice and roasty, just the way I like it. I also pick up notes of chocolate and brown sugar. The smoke, however, is pretty mild - it kind of gets lost behind the other notes present. A slight docking of points for the weak smoke, but this DOES smell good otherwise. (3.25)
Taste: Starts off with a subtle roasted touch. The smoke appears on the finish, along with a touch of dark fruits. This does feature some good qualities, but it just seems so...insipid. Nor does it seem fully in tune - the aftertaste seems to clash with the rest of the beer, and the exhales are oddly vegetal. Meh. (2.5)
Mouthfeel: This feels airy and well carbonated, but for some reason it isn't very drinkable. Granted, that's due to the general lack of balance. Even worse, it also feels rather insipid. (2.5)
Overall: At first, it seems decent but basic. But the more I drink it, the more its flaws appear. It's out of balance and somewhat vegetal-tasting, and the smokiness is weak. I certainly will not be returning to this one. (2.5)
2.71/5: Please don't kiss my ass

Ass Kisser Beverage Co. "Stubborn Jack" Smoked Porter Ale
12 oz. brown glass bottle, no apparent freshness dating
$3.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
"Ass Kisser Beverage Company is based in Fort Worth, Texas. We are a family owned company from South Australia. It is operated by Rocland Wine Imports".
"Stubborn Jack" pours an almost opaque brown-black body beneath a finger thick head of frothy dark tan that holds well and leaves some nice lacing about the glass. It's roasty and chocolatey in the nose with some delicate fruitiness and just a touch of ashen smokiness. In the mouth it's medium-light in body and gently bristling with carbonation. Some notes of golden caramel and molasses join the dark bittersweet chocolate and moderately roasty 'cold black coffee' flavors, but there's not much smoke. You find it in the finish, but even there it's quite limited. Minor fruitiness (apple, sweet red berries) and a touch of leafy, grassy, and herbal hops round it out. It's a decent enough beer overall, but the lack of smokiness is disappointing, and at over $3 a bottle I can hardly recommend it.

OK I bought this because my name is Jack-, I am stubborn and hate all the Ass kissers in the world, and now-a-days most corporate workers are expert ass kissers to management, this is why we off-shore jobs cause they are the best ass-kissers, So let's talk about the beer and any skid marks. First off any beer that is local get's a 3, it is a smoked porter, it is balanced, hey that is what the label said. I think if you want a really smoked beer you go elsewhere, if you just want a pure Porter you go elsewhere butt this JackAss is great if you want both-balanced. It pours foamy blah blah blah, no skid mark after taste. Chocolate? Expresso? Nutty? Ask the Donkey in the movie Shrek dumb ass-kisser. :)

Pours a finger of tan head on a black body.
The aroma is smoky, roasted malt, caramel, chocolate and coffee. Very nice.
The taste is mildly sweet and bitter at the same time, it finishes sweet.
The texture is light.
The aroma was great, the flavor mild, but not bad.

Opaque black with a foamy, milky coffee colored head. Nice lacing. Soft roasted malt aromas with coffee undertones. Smooth and a bit viscous on the palate. Mild sweetness, hint of molasses. More roasty flavors of char, espresso, and bitter chocolate with an acrid edge. Smokey notes emerge from the roastiness and linger into the finish, but aren't overwhelming. Thins out and goes dry towards the end with more acrid.
A safe Smoked Porter. It's good, but doesn't explore enough of the complexities found in other examples of the style. I'd like to more malt backbone and layers of smoke here.
