22 oz bottle was poured into a nonic glass.

Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to a puffy layer. It is a hazy pale orange with some vision of bubbles comings up through the glass. Frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Grapefruit, tangerine, pungent, and some caramel

Taste: This beer went from tasty to strange and weird quickly. Citrus, caramel, and bread followed by dirty, off flavors.

Mouthfeel: It starts off smooth and chewy, but then gets tough to put down.

Overall: Not a fan. Picked up a bottle tonight in J.P. and not sure how old this bad boy is. I can't even finish it off. Sorry guys.

Pours golden brown with a finger head. Boozy smell with not much character. Wheaty to the tongue but finishes boozy. I bought it because of the name to be honest. It wasn't bad but it didn't blow my mind. Overall, It's an average IPA. I would buy it again but only if I was left with few options.

The back-end bitterness is very mild with most of the hops coming from late additions, as far as I can detect. It seems weak and underpowered for a DIPA. The flavor is nice and mild with no booze detected, pleasant caramel and biscuity flavors being countered by citrus and fruit hops. I'd drink it again because it wasn't a bad beer by any means, it was just not what I've come to expect from a DIPA

Nice head, thick dark golden color, crisp, moderately hoppy flavor, with a decent amount of spice and fragrance. Good sipping beer, light on the front of your tongue, falls on the back of the tongue with the bitterness. My wife normally doesn't like bitter beers, but likes this.

Pours ruby-tinted amber with a large, lasting head.
Heavy malt on the nose along with piny resinous hops. Very malty aroma.
Very malty flavours too, clean sweet malt throughout. Also piny and minty hops with a bit of resinous bitterness in the finish.
Carbonation is a little aggressive.

Nicely surprised.

A-Golden orange, head didn't hold well though
S-Nice hop smell, there was a feint olive odor...
T-Slight sweetness upfront with a nice bitter after taste
M-Fine bubbles, not over bearing
O-Good solid IPA.

The last Ass Kisser, was not pleasurable, so I am glad this one packed some flavor.

22oz bottle into a DFH tulip shaped pint glass. no bottling date that i can find.

Pours a dark golden color with a 2 inch lasting lacey white head. huge westcoast hop aroma on the nose, typical for a cali IPA and something ive come to love. taste isnt quite as in your face with the hops, and not as big as i was hoping for, but they are still the prominent characteristic. slight citrus and a good amount of bitterness on this one. the flavor is lacking though, it doesnt compare to a lot of other IPAs nowadays. the feel is lacking as well, its almost light bodied; i get a watery feel that isn't fitting for a beer like this. However, it makes this beer go down extremely quick.

overall started off strong and faded down the stretch. nothing wrong with this one, but i was expecting some more flavor and a more defined body. there are much better IPA choices out there nowadays.

I was confused before I found out that these are the same guys that brew Ass Kisser wines. Apparently they couldn't find a beer reviewing website who gave it a high score, so they got a 90 from Wine Enthusiast. Okay.

The color is a solid, deep amber, nearly orange, and this beer develops a pretty heavy, chunky eggshell white head that sits well on top of the brew it crowns. It leaves leggy lacing with some patching to boot.
There's a weird dusty earthiness in the nose combined with an overly strong note of husk and some alcohol. It's absolutely too malt-forward for a good DIPA, though some herbal and floral bitterness comes out, and some of the earthiness can be attributed to hops as well. Citrus gives off both sweet and tangy notes.
There's a stronger hops presence in the flavor, but it goes a little too pithy and has a harsh edge to it. Malts do add support and balance, but the biscuit and caramel isn't enough to offset the chalky notes, and the assault of resin would be good if it was well-acclimated to a West Coast type of IPA, but it doesn't fit in this mess. It's nice that tropical fruits make an effort, but they turn sour in the aspirin-like finish. This is what happens when a brewer thinks it's so easy to make a DIPA and has no idea what balance is.
As I brace for hard dryness, i'm a little relieved, at least, that it doesn't go too far in the feel. It's still not great, but there's a little smoothness to even things out and it's reasonably crisp.

Pours golden color thick chunky white head that lingers well in DFH IPA glass. Looks really nice.

Smell is malty with little hoppy presence.

Taste is sweet malt, bread and hints of fruit. Strange astringent hoppiness. Bitterness late. Just not as much hop character as a DIPA should have.

Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied. Lots of carbonation.

Overall this was just fair. Wouldn't seek this out.

Poured from bottle into oversized wine glass, appearance is very crisp, and a nice clear deep amber color, somewhat orange on the rim. Decent lacing, off white color doesnt stick too much.

Initial smell of Pine-Sol, and not nessisarily in a bad way, but piney and almost like a bitter grapefruit, with sweet hop hitting your nose.

Taste isnt great, kindof bitter and the unripe grapefruit smell is confirmed in the taste. Aftertaste is not pleasing as it lingers with a medicine flavor.

mouthfeel is a bit oily and it is smooth enough going down, alochol hidden well as it finishes

Overall I dont think I would buy this brew again, you can tell that it is dry hopped, but I dont know where they went wrong on it, I didnt pour it down the drain. But as far as DIPA go, I can name a dozen that I like better in varying styles of DIPA.. wouldnt buy again.

A: This poured a hazy gold with some light tan head.
S: It smelled like copper and pine hops and earthy caramel.
T: It tasted like herbal, pine and bitter copper hops, with some earthy caramel. It had a dirty and mostly bitter aftertaste.
M: It was watery with lots of carbonation. Lively body.
D: This was a subpar IPA with mediocre scent and taste and body. The finish was pretty dirty too, so it was not all that pleasant to drink, but easy enough to down. Not recommended.

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #62 (Mar 2012):

LOOK: Pale amber, thick froth

SMELL: Orangey, dusty malt, yeast, rose water, faint alcohol, peaches, husk

TASTE: Pungent bitterness, orange peel, pith, evergreen, catty, aspirin, grassy, bread crust, yeast, chalky, mangoes, alcohol, dry & bitter finish

Tastes like someone threw a ton of hops at this ale without caution. We love our hops, but it is very easy to kill a beer with them as well. Several sips in, the nearly astringent character does not let up. With some balance, there would be more praise.

A - Pours a murky copper colour with an orange hue, finger of off-white head with decent retention and some nice sheeting lacing.

S - Scent is sweet and sugary with hints of earthy pine, pineapple with burnt cane sugar and caramel on the finish.

T - The hop profile follows with an earthy pine flavour, sour citrus rind and hints of caramel and nuts on the finish. The bitterness is strong and lingers, but the ABV is nicely hidden.

M - Medium bodied, smooth and surprisingly wet.

O - I quite enjoyed this DIPA, by no means a hop bomb, but an easy drinking DIPA that goes down quite easily, especially given the higher ABV. I would almost say its sessionable as it doesnt overwhelm the palette. Definitely worth a try.

A - medium hazy copper amber, solid tall head, dissipated slowly and left lots of lacing all around
S - earthy and peppery with a caramel background and just a touch of metallic and booze
T - much like the nose hop wise with an added touch of cut grass, very malty backup with biscuit and light brown sugar, again just a faint touch of booziness very late in the finish
M - medium body, some creaminess, not much of a bitter or dry feel
O - fairly big flavour that are very balanced for a DIPA, maybe even to the detriment of being true to the style but the result is a very drinkable and tasty brew

Poured from bottle into a snifster.

A...hazy orange with a quickly receding two finger head.

S...really faint, almost non existent. Where is the pine and citrus im expecting?

T...getting a slightly sweet malty taste up front that is followed by a little bitterness at the end with a long, not very pleasant finish.

M... Med body, lots of carbonation. think champagne with larger bubbles.

O...a drinkable beer. A big let down for the style though. If I blind tasted this, I would not even think ipa, let alone a double ipa. There are lots of beyer options for this style.

A 12 oz bottle

Large head on a bright orange-gold body.

Nose: Slightly vanilla?? Otherwise not as fresh as I like.

Taste: A rather rash beginning to the taste. Bitter citrus. Not as fresh tasting as I like.

Mouth feel is a little flat

There are better examples out there.

appears a hazy dark golden orangish color. decent retention. nose is a mix of citrus and earthy hop aromas. taste has just a touch of malt sweetness. somewhat bitter hops dominate the flavor. lingering aftertaste. thin body, medium to high carbonation.

A: half finger head on a murky orange-crimson body.

S: relatively malty. candied orange, slight musty hop note. moving towards the barleywine aroma. overall a touch light.

T: malt forward DIPA. More candied orange with toffee and earthy hops up front moving towards a slightly resinous, floral and piney finish.

M: medium body and moderate carbonation.

Overall: I like some malt forward DIPAs out there but the hop character is a little weak. The booze are well hidden but still not up there with the best of the style.

A - Pours with one finger of white foam that settles rapidly and leaves decent lace. The body is a slightly hazy, dark copper color.

S - An earthy hop aroma with notes of pine, black pepper, and dark bread.

T - Spicy hops up front with some toffee and bready malt notes. Darker sugar character in the middle as caramel comes out with a touch of pine hop character. Finishes with dark bread, toffee, and pine as well as a moderately strong bitterness to balanced the sweetness.

M - Medium-thick body, moderate carbonation, and a slightly sweet finish.

D - This is an average, but dark DIPA with a strong malt character that is balanced by a nice dose of hops. Drinkable, and while it isn't life changing it is enjoyable.

22oz bottle served in an oversized wineglass.
no freshness dating found.

pours a cloudy, dull amber tone while yielding 3/4" off-white head. head lapses fairly quickly into a thin cap, collar around the glass. nice lacing, both otherwise nothing to write home about. nose is headlined by caramel malt. the label does indicate a malt backbone but this is more in barleywine territory than anything that could be considered a DIPA. muted floral/citric hops in the background. a hops bouquet this is not.

flavor follows the aroma. much more a malt bomb than a DIPA, with at best a few hoppy notes as secondary characters. and due to the lack of dating, it's anyone's guess as to how much of this is intended. not a drain pour but decidedly underwhelming... mouthfeel is decent, medium bodied with some prickly carbonation.

overall, not too impressive. too malty. sorely missing that potpourri of hops i look for in my DIPAS. brewery needs to bottle date as this is almost certainly past its prime.

Poured from a 12oz bottle purchased 4 pack for $10.99.

Poured into Pint glass. Had orange bronze color and was unfiltered. Got a flake of hops. Nice citrus notes and a good bit of hops. Was kind of surprised at the structure notating the amount of malt used. It is 7.75% ABV and I did not feel taste the alc. It was balanced and drinkable.

I am not the IPA drinker that likes to lose my enamel on my teeth so this fit real well.

A decent brew.

Poured an attractive coppery-orange with a huge rocky-foam head that receded slowly leaving copious lace. Smell has resin and earthy spice notes with a definite caramel-malty backdrop. Taste is moderately bitter with resin, spicy earth and subtle citric notes. Malt inserts itself with toffee and caramel flavors. Not sweet. Carbonation is lively but the mouthfeel although wet is a bit thin which is disappointing. Is easy enough to drink, doesn't beat up the palate. Finishes mildly bitter which lingers for a bit. Not sure if I'd buy another, but wouldn't turn it down if offered, either.
