78702 is brewed in the style of a traditional Kolsch. Hailing from Germany, this style is blonde in color, bright and clear with a lasting white foam head. Aromas of bready malt and spicy noble hops pop out of the glass and the flavor delivers thirst quenching refreshment, with an ever so slight malty and fruity finish. 78702 has a refreshing bitterness and clean and crisp finish.

Poured from the can into a Hops and Grain can shaped glass. Excellent head, with long retention and plenty of lacing. Golden coloring completes the look. One of the best tasting Kolsch style beers I have had since I was in Germany. Light but flavorful, with mild hops bitterness on the finish. A winner for Hops and Grains!

Appearance: Clear, pale straw golden, with a large, coarse white head, which retains fairly well. The carbonation is profuse, and fast-rising. A thick, irregular ring of lacing adorns the glass walls.

Aroma: The aroma presents berries, bread, and grassy hops, with a bit more complexity than typically seen in this style.

Taste: Opens with slighly tangy malt, and earthy, herbal hops. Midway through the taste, there is a slight undercurrent of berries and watermelon. Finishes with a mild, lingering slight earthy hoppiness.

Mouth feel: Fairly full, with a little sting of carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: A very refreshing summer beer, which pushes the boundaries of its style a bit. Enjoyed in mid-November, when the outside temperature is 26.6F. It still works,

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice

One of my favorite recent finds. Sometimes you just need a tasty Kolsch. Drank two six packs in one weekend.

Pour at the brewery in a sort of tulip/stange hybrid glass.

Beautiful golden color and transparency. Constant bubbling up. Light foamy pale white head.

Smells a touch bready and fruity like berries. Floral. Clean.

Flavor follows but with more punch. A fruity, floral and slightly grassy, resinous hop flavor. Finishes with a linger earthy, floral, grassy mixture. Best of all worlds. Very nice.

Feeling a tad heavy on me, but I just stuffed my face with barbecue. Still nice and light, fruity and stiffly bitter on the finish.

Good stuff and great to see this is canned too. Summer beer.

Chill-hazed pale yellow with a dirty white froth.

Melon, strawberry, grass and grain in the aroma.

Fruity, sweet and superbly dry with just the right amount of bitterness.

Near perfect in every respect. 787ö2 is the real thing, and one of the best brews I've had in a long time. Essential drinking, and I'm amazed it hasn't bee reviewed yet. Then again, it's not the next new IPA or sour thing either, so there ya' go.
