From the corked, caged 750 ml. bottle dated November 2013. Sampled on January 14, 2014.

The pour is a cloudy, murky brown with a lingering, delicate off-white head that leaves plenty of lacing behind. Not as dark as a Belgian Style Dark Ale but still adequate.

Oh! But that aroma is out of this world. About the best I have ever smelled so I give it a "5," which I rarely do. I get Belgian candied sugar, Belgian yeasts, "Sugar in the Raw," caramel malts, maple syrup, pepper, fig, plum, prunes, and cherry. Some muted spice but just enough to politely balance it out.

The body is medium to full.

The taste is much like the aroma with all of those wonderfully sweet Belgian characteristics of a Quad. 9.5% ABV but the alcohol is practically invisible so it makes for some very easy drinking. A fine peppery bitterness at the end that lingers. Everything plays off each other. Nothing assumes control of the drinking experience.

One of the best American renditions of a Quad I have ever had.

On-tap 12/5/2013 at Track 84, in Warwick, RI served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a deep golden brown color, with a short off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains some Belgian yeast, some fruit, caramelized malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of Belgian yeast and a hearty malt character. Then some sweetness comes in from flavors of caramel and fruit but not much. The hops presence is decent for the style and brings some balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: A little tasty, goes down ok, very strong kick, not too filling, decent representation of style, it’s just an ok beer overall, nothing special.
