Very unique beer from the "standard" bourbon stouts. The strong Belgian yeast gives this beer a saison/white wine aroma and flavor. Only negatives are the relative lack of bourbon character and the thin mouthfeel. But note this was tasted immediately following a Sunday Morning Stout, so these notes are relative. But if you see one of these still kicking around I recommend giving it a try.

Tart, light, and fruity up front. This is not the kind of description you'd expect for a stout, and while it is atypical, it's not entirely unpleasant. A lovely wave of cocoa powder follows.
Long wet and pleasant finish. Thick and viscous; fantastic feel.

Poured from bottle into its proper glass. Thanks Chuck for this nice surprise. Standard looking stout with a milky brown colored head that held strong. Nice lacing. Ring left throughout. Smell was Bourbon dominated with chocolate, anise and dark fruit tones. Nice flavors of chocolate and roasted malts. Nice wood in the flavor with a strong Bourbon touch that's strong but not overwhelming. Super Light carbonated with a sticky feel and finishes off dry. Really surprised of how good this was. If you get a chance to try it, it won't disappoint.

16.9oz bottle. Blend #1. Pours a pitch black color with an inch of medium brown head. Some lacing. The aroma is Bourbon, doughy bread, milk chocolate, and roasted malts. The taste is Bourbon at first with a nice woodiness. Earth, charcoal, licorice, chocolate and some roasted malts. Some doughy flavor as well. Finishes with a smooth alcohol warmth and some nice Bourbon. Maybe a hint of black coffee. Lots of carbonation. Mouthfeel is a bit thinner than I would like for the style. Still it's a solid offering. Pretty smooth. Interested in seeing how it ages. Overall, well done.

On-tap 10/30/2014 at Track 84, in Warwick, RI served in a tulip glass.
A: The beer is a deep black color, with a short brown head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains licorice, roasted malts, bourbon, dark fruit and a touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out with mild flavors of bourbon, chocolate and licorice. Then a hearty but not too heavy malt character comes in. The hops presence is mild as you would expect but provides a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium-to-high carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, good kick, decent representation of style, this is a decent stout to drink for a while but there are several others in the style that I would choose first.
