In a pint glass, this beer was a gold color with virtually no head.

One dimensional aroma, just a bit of sweet malt.

There were some hops noted in the taste, but still not much more than sweetness.

Very light, almost like drinking water.

Something to drink when mowing the lawn.

12 oz can from my third beer-of-the-every-other-month-club. Poured into a large tulip glass.

A -- Pale kind of copper color with decent white head. Good carbonation. Not too hazy or clear. Highlights around the edges.

N -- Metallic. Light malts.

T -- Very subtle. Not a lot going on. Not bad, but not a lot of complexity either. Mostly a light toasted malt flavor.

M -- Light.

O -- Okay, for what it is. Would not seek out again.

Cheers.

Another beer courtesy of woodychandler. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a rich golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, a touch of sweetness. Taste is crisp, malty, creamy, a touch of hops, easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Consumed 11/30/12

Appearance: Light amber, dark gold in the light - mostly clear, slight chill haze- pours with a small, off-white head, keeps a little cap, leaves some nice spots of lacing

Smell: Interesting, mostly good - pale and lightly toasted grains - hearty white bread with a touch of honey - dough and some flowers - slight vegetal edge, like sweet corn - clean, lightly sweet, with some grassy hops

Taste: Doughy, yet lightly toasted, bread - kind of like a grainy bread with corn and honey - a light grainy sweetness balanced by a mild bitterness - lightly earthy, with some grass and fibrous vegetables - some hints of light citrus in the background

Mouthfeel: Medium body, nicely smooth as a cream ale should be, nicely carbonated

Overall: Good enough to be a flagship

Choosing a Cream Ale as a flagship beer for a new brewery seems a bit odd. But Grey Sail pulled it off. This is an all-around solid beer, more interesting than the "average" Cream Ale. If only these came in tallboys...

New cans in MA, haven't had a Cream Ale in a long time.

A- Poured from the 12oz can into a can shaped glass. Tiniest amount of haze to the light amber body. A fizzy white head forms to a finger tall with lackluster retention, falling quickly to a bubbly ring and pillow. Lacing is very spotty and rarely found on the mostly untouched glass.

S- Faint cracked grains and hints of sweets and even corn. Slight fruity esters with yeast hints of pear, apple and light sweet fruits.

T- As with the aroma, just a faint and even watered down feel to the flavor. Yeast offers up some bread notes as well as the light fruits mentioned above. Notes of cracked grain, corn, pear, sweets, grape and light grassy hops.

MF- Light bodied but a pretty smooth and somewhat creamy texture overall. Foams up on the palate from the medium-high carbonation.

Really not bad for a Cream Ale and fits the style pretty well. No off flavors or anything that turns me off. Just not a thing I would personally buy a lot of but I could see how some would enjoy this.

On-tap 1/24/2012 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub, in Pawtucket, RI served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color with a short dense white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains light caramelized malts, grain and some hops.

T: The taste starts out with breadiness from a light malt character which transitions into a mild malt sweetness. Then a decent hops bitterness for the style comes in creating a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready.

M: Crisp and smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a nice lighter beer to drink for a long time.

12oz can. Pours a translucent straw color with an inch of frothy head. Good amount of lacing. Aroma is of sweet grains, grass and some bread. Taste is sweet breadiness, grains, and a bit floral at the end. Pretty crisp and easy to drink. Somewhat of a creamy mouthfeel. Seems like it'd be perfect for summer. Overall, its nothing special but worth having some of in the fridge.
