Thanks to Sean for hooking up this beer from a new brewery for me. This is bottle #4 of 15, nice.

A - Yellowish beer with a bit of reddish brown in there. Bit of an off-white head that faded to a thin ring and left a little bit of stick on the sides.

S - Reminds me a little bit of a hefeweizen with a sharp, sweet note. Not really any brett that I can pick out, but a bit of banana, some phenolic yeast and stone fruits, and a touch of whiskey.

T - A bit sweet, some stone fruits. Still can't pick out the brett. A bit of sharp, but not hot, sweet whiskey taste mixes with the stone fruits. Some phenolic yeast and a bit of banana and oak.

M - Lighter side of medium with some decent carbonation.

O - Interesting beer, it changed a bit as it warmed up. Not a traditional Saison, but the whiskey and barrel had an unexpected effect that still worked for this beer. Pretty easy drinker, would drink again.

750ml bottle #4/15...thank you, Paul! Poured into Bell's tulip.

A - Pours a rusty reddish/brown copper color, cream-colored head, frothy, spotty lace, thin collar.

S - Straight forward saison with a nice whiskey note. I don't get any of the brett on the nose, but the whiskey is nice and takes this beer into another dimension. Slightly sweet, yeast, slight banana, smooth whiskey, some oak.

T - I think I preferred the taste over the nose. The 2nd used whiskey casks really work well with the saison, and as it warmed, it got even better. I still don't get any Brett, and I think this bottle would be even better with some additional age so the Brett can work its magic.

M - Light to medium, good carbonation, slightly dry finish.

O - Really enjoyed this one...it's not often you try and barrel-aged saison that works so well, but this one did. I think another 6 months would do this one some more good and I can see it being really excellent with some tart notes mixed in there from the Brett. Overall, I'd have it again, for sure!

Bottle courtesy of Sean. Bottle #4 of 15 - initially thought it was a bottling date of April 15th. Served in a Captain Lawrence tulip.

A - Attractive white foam settles to a thin cap, thicker collar, and a bit of splotchy lace. Lightly murky peach body.

S - A mix of lightly phenolic farmhouse yeast and funky brett. There's a touch of sulfur, some musty notes, and a bit of tropical fruit. Not a ton of bourbon or oak - the label states they were second-use.

T - The taste is more traditional, with stone fruits, yeast, a hint of lotion, oaky vanilla, and a light whiskey bite in the finish. Not as funky as the aroma suggests.

M - Medium body, pleasant moderate-to-low carbonation, smooth texture, and a slightly dry finish. No alcohol presence, with the listed 8.3% coming as a surprise to me.

D - A nice, solid, enjoyable beer. Perhaps a bit subtle considering all the elements that went into make it, but enjoyable stuff. A promising start for a new brewery - I'll have to keep an eye out for future releases.
