December 30th, 2013 -The grand finale for our afternoon tasting at Lone Tree is the Mountain Coffee Stout, to coat and lacquer the tongue for the rest of the afternoon ahead. Predictably dark, with a soy sauce foam, this brew offers the traditional roasted dry coffee smell, simple and straightforward. The palate is thin and quenching, pairing less well with the flavor (unlike their Irish Ale) but no real chocolate elements. So, the smell is better than the taste, as the formula feels a little off given the boldness of the flavor, too heavy to be supported on this beer's platform.
