Served from a growler into a Valentinus weissbier glass. I picked up the growler about 15 minutes ago, so it's as fresh and cold as can be. Reviewed live. Expectations are average given the brewery. Reviewed as an "India Pale Lager" just as the brewery identifies it on their beer board. 55 IBUs.
Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.
A: Pours a one finger wide had of white colour. Smooth complexion. Decent frothiness. Okay creaminess. No lacing as the head recedes. Retention is average - about 2 minutes.
Body colour is a clear copper. Decent vibrance. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show.
Pretty standard appearance for the style. Translucent and transparent. I'm looking forward to trying it.
Sm: Light floral hop character. Clean pale malts. Some light lemon citrus. An aroma of mild strength.
No yeast character or alcohol is detectable.
T: Floral hop character. Some hints of lemon. Too much caramalt. No naked hop bitterness comes through. I don't get any yeast or alcohol. Lightly oily. A bit soapy on the finish; this spent too long in primary. It's not very flavorful, but it's a nice refreshing little lager that hides its ABV well. Balanced and enjoyable for the most part. Flavour intensity and duration are average.
Mf: A bit too thick. Slightly oily. Smooth and wet. Refreshing. Suits the flavour profile well.
Dr: Drinkable and enjoyable, but I wouldn't get it again. I'll have no trouble finishing the growler though. A decent little IPL from Lone Tree. Hides its ABV pretty well.
