On tap at Bottlemixx

A - pitch black with a big, thick, brown head that has great retention

S - big coffee aroma with a smooth transition to cocoa

T - cocoa nibs, coffee, roasted malts, faint bitter finish

M - medium to full bodied, smooth, well carbonated

This was a very delicious beer. It was highly drinkable, but also intricate. The cocoa and coffee are superb. The overall flavor is tremendous. This is definitely worth trying.

Poured from a bomber into a shaker pint, the beer is a mahogany highlighted black coloring with a fizzle of dark brown head that quickly disappears. Some subtle carbonation action rising to the surface if you look closely. Aromas of milk chocolate, cream and vanilla, bitter roasted coffee, hints of smoke, and a rich toffee backbone. Smells balanced and damn tasty. Flavors are robust, with a burst of bitter coffee on the forward tongue, followed curtly by milk chocolate and cream notes, helping to smooth the edges quickly, making the entire trip across the palate smooth, almost velvety. Toffee once again in the backbone, providing a bit of tangy sweet to shake up the otherwise bitter and roasted notes, all on a smooth, light body. This beer remains very drinkable, through and through. The aftertaste is more on the chocolate/mocha side, with sweet cream ribbons throughout. Smooth, clean finish, with a subtle roasted and sweet linger. Solid stout, very smooth, and extremely drinkable.

on tap at the brewery

pours black with a half inch beige head. smell is BIG on coffee and smoked malts. this one is promising. taste hits you with a massive coffee burst at first, followed by some great chocolate notes. ooh. creamy feel, not syrupy at all. super smooth. body is medium, but bigger than the ABV would lead you to believe.

very enjoyable. as a fan of BIG stouts I wasn't expecting to be wowwed, but this beer is excellent. highly recommended.

Picked up a growler from Bestway today.Poures jet black into an impy nonic with a very thin deep tan colored head atop.Aromas of burnt sugar and coffee roast stand out, like creme brullee and a strong coofee mix.The mouthfeel is mellow but full,it goes down easy.Flavors of deep roast and char mixed with brown sugar and caramel sweetness,it's not as soft as I would like. Not a bad stout but it's a little rough around the edges for the style.

Appearance: Out of the cask, the beer has a small khaki lid that crowns the dark brown liquid; a modest amount of lacing is left behind

Smell: Smells like a cup of richly roasted black coffee

Taste: Up front, the coffee flavors dominate, with black bread and chocolate undertone; after the swallow, however, the coffee adds a lot of acidity to the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; for an oatmeal stout, the body is rather thin and lacks the creamy quality I would expect from the style

Overall: This beer was made by adding coffee to the cask and it tastes rather like carbonated coffee, lacking the depth of flavor and mouthfeel that I would seek in the style; although the IBUs are low, the finish reminds of that old commercial where the drinker complains "Oh,this coffee sure tastes bitter."
