Dense black beard, brilliant plumage, reverberating gobble--Old Tom is notorious for haunting the Ozark hills. He's a prize gobbler with the wisdom to stay just out of reach. Our handcrafted porter is also memorable, but it's one Old Tom that won't get away.

On tap. Dark with a white head. Smells of roasted grain. Flavor profile was roasted grain with hints of chocolate. Smooth mouth feel. A very good Porter.

on tap. Served a dark brown color with a tan head and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, bit of chocolate and grain. Taste is similar with roasted malt, chocolate hint of wood. Decent bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Moderate body, quite smooth and flavorful. Nice beer.

so i am not sure if all of this is brewed with toasted coconut, or if i was lucky enough to encounter a special edition, they didnt even list old tom on their website, and i have not had it but this once, so i have nothing to go on. if its always done with coconut, wow, what a special beer. its so obviously toasted, tastes like a macaroon cookie without being overly sweet, really true coconut flavor, shredded and sweetened just enough, and with a light cocoa note that really flatters it, just awesome. if its not always done with coconut, i think this porter without it might be lacking a little bit. its light in color, almost more of a brown ale color, and sort of light on the darker grains. its also rather light in body, and might seem incomplete without the coconut now, although i have no idea if that even exists, so its tough to comment on that. the coconut is amazing in here though, not overdosed, but definitely a lead flavor agent, none of the fake coconut sunscreen thing at all, its desserty in a different way, but its also really drinkable without the heavy body. a brilliant beer, variant or not, one of my favorites from these guys so far, from a keg at the boulevardia festival this past weekend. one of the best beers of the event! if you have more information, please share!

Deep, deep amber color. Nose is coffee and dark chocolate. Awesome flavor. The coffee and dark chocolate blend perfectly. Taste is full, yet remarkably smooth. No harshness. Very much like a high quality coffee.

Deep, dark brown color to the body; thick, dense, light tan head; patches of foam clinging to the glass. Lots of roasted grain and dark chocolate scent. Cocoa flavor dominates things; milk chocolate; twinge of hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body; smooth and silky; a little watery overall; semi-dry finish.
A very satisfying porter overall that only falls (somewhat) short with a slightly thin body. Otherwise, it provides a rich, chocolaty and roasted grain flavor with just the right edge of powdery dryness.
