Had on tap at Four Horsemen.
A- Poured a light hazed golden yellow color with light orange highlights. One and a half finger white head shows medium retention. Light streaks and web lacing are left on the glass.
S- Wheat undertones with a nice banana aroma hinting over this. Light clove comes in the backing with a clean alcohol aroma. Once this beer warms a little the alcohol becomes a little more present. Once again the aroma is almost too light for the beer with having to get my nose close to the glass before I really pick anything up.
T- Wheat upfront with this beer with a hint of grassy hops in the front. Banana and clove do come next but there is a subdue taste with these two which I figured would show out more. Middle of the beer kind of loses flavor and has a watery "flavor" to it with some light grainy notes. The backend shows more grainy notes with a hint of banana and as the beer warms a boatload of medicinal alcohol backing.
M- Light medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Light banana, very light clove, and grassy hops are left on the palate. Aftertaste is mostly medicinal alcohol with hints of banana and bitter earthy hops. Flavors were balanced fairly well just muted overall. No off flavors were present with the beer as I drank it. Medium alcohol drying on the palate.
O- This beer started out as a strong offering. Like most of Four Horsemen's beers about middle of the flavor it becomes watery and dies down. The aroma could have been brought out more I thought. I can't even say this is a average Hefeweizen as it is very forgettable and lacks any real depth.
