Eulogy (and sister bar Beneluxx) is the best bar to go to Old City. Often I find myself in the neighborhood after a movie at the Ritz theaters or dinner somewhere in Society Hill, and this is my go-to bar afterwards for a drink and snack.

The beer list here is stereotypically Belgian, they typically have several Trappist beersand a variety of other Belgian-style beers on tap. I had my first Chimay beer here several years ago. A fault of the draft list is that there is often not enough rotation in the selection. I go once every few months and it seems like I've had 8 of 10 beers they have on draft there. The beers are great, but a bit more variety would be nice. This applies for the bottle selection too. Unlike Monk's which has a huge bottle list, many of which are rarities, Eulogy's draft list is smaller and consists of beers that are more easily found elsewhere.

The food here is great. In my opinions, the best fries I've ever had. They are fried to a perfect crunchy crispness, seasoned with chunky sea salt, with the perfect moist, potatoy interior. I need an order just for myself everytime. The mussels, burger, and other dishes are well constructed and very satisfying, but the 5 for food is earned by the exceptional fries.

Service here is hit or miss though. Sometimes you get a great bartender that is full of good insight and knowledge about the beers on tap and others times you get someone that just says, "it's belgian-style..." when you ask about a beer, or worse a made-up wrong description, but you can always get a taste if you are unsure of a beer you have not had before. The waitstaff often seems aloof and struggle to keep it together at busier times, but this is not always the case.

This bar is pricey, probably the most expensive bar that I regularly visit. I have gone for dinner with a date had a few beers each and spent about $100 after tax and tip. You get quality, but you definitely pay for it. I would say that 3.5 x $ would be a more fair rating. (1,997 characters)

Overwhelming bottle list, impressive taps, Belgian food specialties. Dark and mysterious atmosphere adds to the vibe. When in Philly, a must stop. (146 characters)

A lot like it's stablemate, Bierstube, this place is pretty noisy and draws a young (and on Saturday nights, wasted) crowd. Definitely a place devoted to beer but not really a Belgian beer standout. Head to Monk's. (214 characters)

About as good as it gets...for example: several days post BCBS craziness, they were still selling bottles of both the original and barley wine to bar customers for enjoyment on-site or to-go.

Their rotating tap list is what makes this place awesome - just a great mix of beers from all over the world (with an expected focus on Belgian beers). Their bottle list is also the stuff dreams are made of - Cantillon is often on the list (for a price, but hey, it's an option).

All of the staff are super knowledgeable and actually love their craft. (547 characters)

Eulogy was my first foray into the craft beer scene in Philly and let me say if you haven't been you really need to put it on your list.

The beer selection is enormous and well selected they have many, especially many Belgian, beers that are must tries. They also have a pretty varied and long tap list. When I was there years ago I had my first encounter with St. Bernardus and it really opened my eyes.

There food is fairly good as pub grub goes. I remember enjoying a few sandwiches that I had there.

The service has always been good. They did a great job of accommodating us when we had a large party and when I have been there in smaller groups they have always been attentive.

The price depending in the beers can be a tad expensive but they do have several good low budget drinks. (796 characters)
