First had poured from 12-oz. can, bottom stamped “BORN 08222018,” and “BB 12202018,” gift from colleague, into nonic pint.

Appearance a little lighter than expected, and aroma a bit more muted, but the smoke is there, even if attenuated in this easy-drinking ESB.

This is a low gravity, but highly hopped "IPA". The aroma is mild but well-balanced. The flavor has a bit more of a kick than the smell suggests. Full-bodied with a lower than average carbonation level. An easy IPA to do in a flight.

On draft at flying saucer in Nashville,TN

Dark honey in color with minimal head, aroma of malt and hops, surprising amount of hops for an ESB. Not bad, but have had better from Black Abbey

Light mahogany color, relatively translucent. Good, hearty snow foam of about two fingers.

Hoppy on the nose, earthy, pine, but not overbearing. Some semi-sweet malt follows the hop aroma providing balance. Reminiscent of what I imagine original IPA's may have been.

Creamy texture on the tongue, more earthy and pine hoppiness with enough balancing biscuit malt to keep it in check. A little too gritty to be refreshing, but mellow enough to be sessionable and flavorful enough to satisfy.

It's not a complicated beer, but this is great example of English charm mixed with American audacity. Can't wait for the brewery to open.
