The 2015 version of this limited-edition seasonal is only available through the holiday season, but this winter celebration brew is worth the wait. Malted barley and chocolate tones define the traditional style, while the robust aroma and long, mellow finish make this the perfect companion for holiday adventures. Get it while you can.

Munich malt, pilsner malt, crystal malt, chocolate malt, bavarian hops.

Look: It pours dark brown with a tan head. Head retention is very good.

Smell: It has some molasses and toffee aromas.

Taste: It has black strap molasses flavors with some toffee and a bit of spice.

It has a medium full body with a somewhat sweet finish.

Overall, the flavors are okay.

From the 11.2 oz can in a snifter. This interesting little doppel pours
a dark copper with a nice head of off white foam that settles to a thick ring,
thin layer, and displays some nice light lacing. Nose of toasted malts,
dark raisin bread, crust, and herbal notes. Flavors follow the nose with
a few exceptions. Dark breaded malts, dark raisin, light brown sugar,
a touch of dark cherry, and a hint of cinnamon as well as other herbal notes
I cannot put my finger on. Mouth feel is medium light, medium carbonation,
and a herbal finish that is subtly dry.

Overall, a very nice doppel.

Cheers

This one pours a dark-ish amber color, with a small head, and a bit of lacing.

This smells like chocolate, peat, a touch of smoke, and caramel.

This is solid, but finishes a little thin and watery on the finish. The chocolate and light smoke is intriguing for the style, and the more typical caramel and breadiness is done well.

This is slightly creamy, but lighter bodied for the style, and pretty drinkable.

I like how this brewery brings me back some nostalgia from my honeymoon in Iceland.

The pour is umber brown colored with a mild amount of carbonation. The taste is roasted malt, grains, char, brown sugar, with a touch of dark cherries near the finish. Cheers! B

Damn, I liked this, like, a lot...

It looks so good in the pint glass, and smelled deliciously malty. It's mouthfeel sits somewhere between light- and medium-bodied with just the right amount of carbonation- IMHO. The taste, I was blown away at how malty sweet and balanced it was - this may be their best offering, certainly of all the ones I've had to date.

Good Doppelbock, nothing sensational but a solid brew. Poured from a 12 oz. (355 ml) can into a tulip glass, this beer featured a huge frothy off white/light tan colored head with good retention. There were thin bands of lacing on the glass and a beautiful clear, mahogany color with lots of reddish light coming through. Aroma was toasted, bready malt with a bit of cinnamon and caramel. Taste was more of the same with a hint of chocolate added. Good flavor. Mouthfeel was rich and smooth with a little sourness in the finish. Overall a solid Doppelbock.

Appearance: 12oz can into a cold pint glass. 3 months from "best by" date. The can had a beautiful dark forest green background with an antlered viking mascot. Caramel and borderline burgundy colored beer with a tiny bit of white head that instantly and sadly receded into a ringless, foamless piece of history.

Aroma: Malty sweetness with the spice of pine and cinnamon.

Taste: Take the nose amd add caramel with toast. The bread has a thin layer of jam that is either fig or date. Maybe a raisin or three on the backend. A drop or two of sugary syrup.

Feel: Crisp with just the right amount of carbonation. Notable stickiness which harks back to the aforementioned syrup.

Overall: Ever so slightly on the sweet side but otherwise it's a lovely doppelbock.

From the out of date bottle, it pours a clear brown color that is somewhat transparent, with a modest, soon diminishing head. The nose gets dark fruit and caramel scents. The mouth gets the same, flavors of dark fruit, caramel and toffee. Feel is medium with a slightly slick aftertaste.

A - Dark burgundy caramel color with thin, toffee colored lacing.

S - Dark fruit, raisins, caramel, and toffee with a little bit of brown sugar.

T - Light chocolate malt base mixed with some toasted caramel and some dark fruit (raisins) over top while finishing on the sweeter side.

M - Big medium body with soft carbonation.

O - I think this beer might be past it's prime but held up pretty darn well.

From a 330ml (11.2oz) can dated "BF" 10/OCT/2023 into a pint glass.

Pours a very murky reddish brown with about a half finger of off-white head that dissipates quickly leaving hardly any lacing.

Smells nice enough. Dark fruits, caramel, bread and a bit of nuttiness.

Taste follows...roasty caramel, bread and dark fruits.

Medium to full-bodied mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Roasty aftertaste.

This is ok. drinkable with no wow factor.

Pours a deep reddish brown with a moderately lasting short white head. Smells of toffee, caramel, and maybe something spicy or burnt. Tastes of toffee with some residual caramel sweetness. Due to the toasted malts it come across as balanced although sweet. Medium bodied and drinkable.
