Most golden pale colour of the three wits I had today ( Hoegaarden, Blanche de Namur) with almost no head.

Smell is almost a little like a lager without hops, some sweet malt notes, grassy/grainy maybe a little lemon. No spiciness, doesn't smell like a wit at all.

That is strange I can´t get any wheat in this wit. Start is somehow sweet a little bit of citrus and some spiciness. A very clean and crisp taste. Finish is semi sweet and dry. Light Body and it goes down very easy. Sorry this doesn`t taste like a wit but it is still a beer I enjoy. Can`t classify this one.

I think it is a good beer but don't expect a typical wit.

31st August 2012: Icelandic or should I say ‘Einstok’ tasting evening at a mates house. He’d bought two bottles of four different Einstok brews. All poured carefully into a ‘Straffe Hendrik’ badged chalice.

First up was a 33cl White Ale: cloudy pale yellow with no hint of a head, the bottle being just out of date might have played a part in that, but I doubt it.

Mixed spice aroma with a citrus feel: the taste was similar, tangy, with a sweet and sour fizz; add a spoon full of yeast and some extra lemon into the citrusy nose and you’ve got the flavours I’m trying to describe.

Good start to the tastings, refreshing and thirst quenching: which is exactly what we required first off.

A nice white ale, full featured and fairly committed. I would call it almost an imperial white given the flavor depth and presentation. I liked the richness and enjoyed the nice branding as well. I am very comfortable recommending it to anyone who prefers their beers sturdy.

Had this for dessert the other night.

It pours a pale gold color with thin, tight lacing. I get an aroma that’s crisp and tart, like a cider (should be). The flavor is similarily crisp, with a light effervescence and a touch of green apple tartness and taste. It has a hint of coriander, really nuanced. The flavor is exceptionally smooth and I found it to be very tasty and enjoyable.

A vigorous pour from a 12oz bottle into my Hoegaarden tumbler produces a tall frosty glacier of foam which recedes to a pillowy collar and slick. Beneath the frost resides a turbulent pale straw liquid teeming with chunks of lees. Good retention, delicate lacing.

Bright wheat-and-citrus laden aromatics with a hint of coriander.

Quite tart and fruit-forward palate entry suggests lemon zest and oranges. Slightly spicy, vaguely minerally finish. The additions usurp the contributions of the yeast.

Creamy effervescent mouthfeel.

A pleasing reviving drink in the increasing heat of early Summer.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of July 2012. Picked up a while back from Harvey Nicks. The label mentions that it contains coriander and orange peel.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A very hazy pale straw colour with fine carbonation. Forms a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding. Aroma of sweet, acerbic citrus with notes of lemon, orange, earthy yeast and a hint of wheat and coriander. A lovely blend.

Tastes of earthy yeast with a citrus character and a dry finish. Notes of lemon, orange, yeast esters and faint coriander. Dry; yeast almost harsh upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is light, crisp and effervescent. Quite dry and somewhat astringent. Aftertaste of earthy yeast and subtle citrus notes.

Tasty; the citrus character is great and the flavours/aroma blend together well. The coriander and wheat don't stand out much, but overall the fruit and spice have a pleasant subtlety. Mouthfeel was perhaps a tad thin, but this isn't a serious complaint. I reckon this could hold a candle to some Belgian wits. Easy drinking - grab one if you come across it.

11.2 oz. bottle,

A: Pours a cloudy white yellow with a soft white head, great lace.

S: Gorgeous orange peel, very citrus, some raw wheat.

T: A citrus heavy wit which is what I like in this style. Lemon, wheat, but the delicious orange takes over, and I'm digging it.

M: Very light-bodied, does feel thinner than it should be, crisp carbonation.

O: Aside from the mouthfeel problems, this is a top flight example of the style. I've certainly been impressed with these guys.

From bottle
pours a golden pilsner color
No cloudiness to speak of. A pilsner in appearance but hopefully true wheat comes through.
smells of pilsner maltgrasses etc is there wheat here?
Flavor is sweet pilsner
A little grassy but the predominantly sour wheat I expected from. A Scandinavia wheat is not there
decent mouth feel
OK over all over sold and under delivered

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a very pale golden colour with a decent white head. Tiny bit of lacing as well.

Smells fresh and tangy.

Tastes very wholesome, with a bit of spice mingling with hops and slight light malts.

Overall a nice refreshing drink.

A less than hazy pour the color of straw, small white fluffy head that disappeared quickly leaving slight lace. Huge aromas!! Citrus Zest, Bubble gum, sweet basil, and a flowery open field. However the taste is a shadow of the wonderful aroma, which is a disapointment only because it smelled so nice and I was excited for something special. Still crisp and refreshing, grassy adn earthy notes with some corriander. Nice, but I wanted more. Palate is light and crisp just as it should be, carbonation is decent but a bit harsh and could be softer. Overall it is a nice beer from a solid brewer. I do wish the taste had more going on but a good effort and I enjoyed it very much with my meal.
