Paid 3 dollars for the single. Into a pint glass.

A - A bit deeper brown color than I expected with a mild orange hue. Head is a 1/2 inch of tanish foam that slowly settles to a ring.
S - Toasty porter notes of roasted coffee, mild cinnamon and nutmeg, some candied yams. Smell is actually quite good.
T - Bitter acidic coffee grounds really reminding me of terribly cold and old Folders. Has a touch of spices mostly nutmeg, no vegital taste and finishes with a mild touch of vanilla extract. Weird pumpkin (porter?) ale
M - Acidic light to medium bodied beer. Not liking the flavor.

Overall a pass on this one the beer is not offensive to drink but the flavor is really lacking in any pumpkin spice or vegital twang. Not getting it again.

I've had this beer twice over the past year. The first time was from a cask/hand-pull at a local bar. I didn't like it but I suspected it was an older cask because I detected some oxidation, so I didn't want to write it off. I had the beer again recently from a can my wife purchased for me at the brewery, which is what this review is based on.

I poured from the can into a nonic glass and the head fizzled away to nothing in a few short seconds. The look and smell is just OK. The taste is burnt bitterness, some vanilla, and metallic notes. Supposedly this has pumpkin in it, but I don't taste it. The body is thin with fast and prickly carbonation. Imagine a burnt piece of scrap metal drizzled with vanilla dissolved in seltzer water.

Part of me has to wonder if they have QA issues with their mobile canning service or carbonation levels. The can's opening "pop" was sort of muted compared to what I usually expect.

12 oz can, no date.

Pours a very dark brown, not quite black. Thin off white head, decent head retention. Aroma has some nice mild spice aromas - vanilla, cinnamon. Taste is a mix of dark malt and those same spice flavors, not much pumpkin noted. Good balance between sweet and dry. Body is fairly thin, I'd like a little thicker.

12 oz can

Pours a deep clear orange brown, eggshell film for a head that retains well.

Smells of cinnamon, cloves, pumpkin pie, and sweet potato.

Cinnamon and roasted pumpkin occupy the flavor mostly, with some hints of nutmeg, clove, graham cracker and a bit of coffee bean.

Medium body with stinging carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

Pretty decent pumpkin ale with some unique appearance and flavor. There are lots of better pumpkin ales, but this one isn't bad and is worth a try.

Dark malt notes. Great bitterness and balance of deep spice flavor. Not the typical sweet cloying flavor of pumpkin. Very drinkable.
