On-tap at the Iron Abbey in Horsham, PA.
Appearance
Brownish amber with 1 finger of white head. Great clarity with low-moderate carbonation.
Nose
Caramel, bread and toffee with touches of whiskey.
Taste
Mainly sweet breads with caramel and hints of toffee. Touches of nut and a dab of butterscotch. Very light essence of blended whiskey. Some wood tannins are found that help to dry out the finish.
Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, silky, smooth and refreshing.
Overall
A really refined and delicate Altbier. The bourbon barrel characters are kept fairly light and never overpower the base beer. This is just a fantastic beer all around.
