Notes/Commercial Description:
Our American blonde ale is a soft and delicate ale brewed with pilsner malt and jasmine flower. The addition of jasmine adds a floral and slightly fruity layer. Single speed pours a crisp golden hue with floral undertones.

Light golden in color with a half inch head of tightly knit head of off white foam. Brussels lacing. Aroma of light grains and a bit of jasmine. The flavor is light grains in the front of the palate and then a more powerful finish with judicious use of jasmine in the finish. The body is light and crisp.

Poured from the bottle a hazy greyish-gold with two fingers of rocky white head. Sheets of thick sticky lacing left behind.

Aroma of floral hops, coriander and jasmine, and sweet caramel malts.

Bright taste of floral and citrus hops, tea, and sweet caramel malts.

Medium bodied and sticky with a moderate carbonation.

I really like this on the American Blonde ale with the jasmine and floral notes.

Enjoyed out of a 22 oz brown bomber with no discernible dating for the bottling or freshness of this particular bottle. Poured into a 50 cL glass stein with a textured exterior.

Appearance - Holy gusher Batman! No really, this thing is overcarbonated to the point of making it impossible to pour. The very act of tipping the bottle to allow liquid to come out reveals foaming up. It takes me about an hour to fully pour this thing, with huge cotton-like head threatening to overwhelm the edges of the after 10-15 secons of pouring at the shallowest angle I can manage and still have liquid actually come out. Even setting it down for awhile and returning does no good. Underneath the seven or eight fingers of bone white foam lies a clear body the color of straw or faded sunlight. The head look like whipped potatoes towering above the meek by comparison body. Retention is absurdly annoying and lacing is thick and clingy.

Smell - It's very hard to get much aroma out of this due to the massive blanket of foam that is covering the body. Even when it clears, the smell is rather apologetic, with a faint bit of generic floral notes and light cracker-like grains providing most of the beer's character.

Taste - Here the floral notes become a little bit more obvious as jasmine, but too little too late in my opinion. The predominant taste comes from the pale malts and there is no hint whatsoever of any hop characteristic. A quick peek at the brewer's website suggests that this perception is correct. The faint bittering instead comes from the jasmine flowers, which gives the bitterness a gentle element.

Mouthfeel - Light bodied and extremely carbonated, although it manages to be rather fluffy and light in mouthfeel for such a heavily carbonated beer. I expected something much more prickly to the tongue, but that is not the case.

Overall, the carbonation issues (yes, I'm assuming that the carbonation experience I had was not intended) made this a hard beer to give a fair shot. That being said, it was light and pleasant and good for what it is. Personally, it is not particularly to my liking. I can't help but wonder if I got a bad bottle or something, but since the taste seemed fine, I must assume I got a perfectly good bottle.

Bottle opened on 12.12.13

A - Pours a clear, dark yellow with a fizzy white head that fades to a film.

S - Wheat, nutty, canned corn.

T - Wheat, corn, jasmine.

D - Good carbonation with a very light body.

O - Very light and mild. Unimpressed with this one.
