Pours deep black in color with little head. Smells of chocolate and tastes of it as well. Not my favorite chocolate stout but very drinkable.

Side poured with standard aggression from the bottle into a Sam Adams glass for Small Pauls 40th birthday.

Appearance - Just as you would expect from a stout, it pours a deep rich brown, almost black color, with little light passing through. In possession of a one finger head of caramel colored goodness, which displays minimal retention and leaves little lacing. I like the packaging, unique.

Smell - I think this is what 4 Hands was shooting for when they created the Cast Iron Oatmeal Brown. This has a thump of chocolate, sweetness, creaminess, cocoa, it smells like alcoholic chocolate milk....which I am totally ok with.

Taste - And it tastes like alcoholic chocolate milk, which I am again fine with. Smooth, rich, and creamy, the chocolate and cocoa is the big mover in this beer. There are hints of roastiness as well, very well balanced and not overdone on the chocolate or sweetness.

Mouthfeel - Probably my favorite part of the brew. Big, rich, decadent, finishes smooth as silk. If a beer can taste thick, this one does.

Overall - This is a pretty alright brew. After a couple straight reviews where I kind of thrashed some 4 Hands products, I have found one I like. Condor recommended and approved, especially for the cold dark winter nights ahead.

Enjoyed this pint with some perfectly suited chili caramel corn at the cool and inviting 4 Hands brewpub in downtown St. Louis before a Skinny Puppy/Front Line Assembly show.

Appearance: Dark complexion. Ruby highlights. Light lace on glass.

Aroma: Ooh the decadent chocolate. Some roastiness, but they certainly captured the spirit of chocolate here. Yum.

Taste: Exquisitely smooth. The lactose infusion makes this one sooo easy to drink and mellow. Chocolate flavors all the way here, with some roastiness rounding out the flavor profile. Absolutely delicious, so much so that we grabbed growlers to bring some more home (as bottles were all sold out during our visit). Very impressed!
