This tasty, hoppy wheat beer is bursting with citrus and lemongrass aromas, supported by a complementary malt backbone and a clean bitterness. A blend of Columbus, Cascade and Sorachi Ace hops bring the party to your mouth while the mellow wheat base quenches your thirst. Enjoy this delightfully distinctive ale at your cookout, your day at the lake or wherever your next adventure takes you.

Hazy yellow with lots of carbonation, and two fingers of white head. It smells of pine like pine resin and a spruce tree forest. The tast follow the nose, and also has a fruitiness and stone fruit, mango and ripe tropical fruits. Medium light body with moderate carbonation. I got this in Concord North Carolina August 1, 2023. I’m drinking it here.

05/24/22 on bottom of can. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.

A: Not very hazy for a hazy IPA. Mildly hazy gold with 1-finger white foamy head with short retention but copious lacing.

S: Aroma overall is berry jam with lemongrass and white grapefruit pith. Esters are low but more wheat ale like.

T: Flavor is likewise fruit jammy with an odd bitterness in the mid palate that is unexpected. Esters are low.

M: Smooth with medium-body and low carbonation and soft finish.

O: Birdsong not getting off on a good foot with Fake Plastic Trees Hazy IPA. Really low aroma and flavor intensity with a weird bitterness. If this turns out to be a bad can, I will be back to re-review.

My brother-in-law brought this back from a recent trip to Charlotte. The can has this labeled as a Hazy IPA rather than a Hoppy Wheat Ale. For that the reason the review that follows is based on it being a hazy IPA.

Pours a clean, almost transparent copper with a short cap of off-white head. The nose is rather nondescript. I can only detect a very faint lemony scent. The flavor is rather subdued with notes of pine and lemon as advertised. Rather malty for the hazy IPA it supposedly is. The feel is medium and well carbed.

This one isn't doing it for me. It comes across more like and old school hoppy pale ale than either the hazy IPA or hoppy wheat ale it's supposed to be. This would be a pass from me in the future.

Nice and hazy! Hits all the right notes for an NEIPA, citrus, hops, cloudy orange-juice look and taste!

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 6/14/2017. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon, orange, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, melon, coriander, dill, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and pale/wheat malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon, orange, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, melon, coriander, dill, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grassy and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon, orange, peach, pear, pineapple, red apple, melon, coriander, dill, citrus peel/zest, light pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, fairly sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.4%. Overall this is a delicious hoppy American pale wheat ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and pretty refreshing to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Great balance of juicy/earthy Columbus, Cascade, Sorachi ace hops; with fruity American wheat yeast, and pale/wheat malts. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Pours a pale cloudy yellow with the nice head typical of wheat beers. The hops provide the major taste notes, not overdone so this beer feels nicely balanced.

tall can., I cant find any freshness/canning date info

Hazed lighter amber, soft and fluffy head, leaves fine bubble strands of lacing.

Citric hop nose with lime coming to mind

Fresh, fruity, citric and worthy hopped up wheaty brew. Lemon, lime and lemongrass...yum...would be great with thai/vietnamese/Indian/BBQ/Spicy food....quality stuff...go get some

16 oz can. Pours hazy medium gold color, thick meringue head has great retention and leaves rings of lace. Wheat and citrus aroma. Wheat bread base with citrus peel hops and lemony grassy bitterness that lasts a while. Soft feel. Very solid hoppy wheat ale, liked the back end bitterness.

An odd greenish gold with tons of haziness and particulate. The aroma is sweet with a lemon candy scent and some pine. The taste is malty, lemony and sweet with a quite aggressive pine finish. This is an odd beer but not bad. I love the flavors but the looks, not so much.

Pours a nice murky hazy orange, almost grapefruit juice color. Nice off white colored dense two finger head, falls slowly laces fairly well.

Aroma is nice nice sweet orange on whet base dominate. Some lighter grapefruit but only get hints of lemon grass kind of strange for a beer claiming that on the label. That being said the nose in very nice and citrus hoppy wheat ale.

Taste is like the nose, nice wheat malt base loaded with west coast citrus hops. Orange, grapefruit notes and lemon grass more in the flavor then the nose. Some earthy like notes of hops appear in the linger end of the finish.

Mouthfeel is solid medium if not a touch more. Carbonation in fairly peppy and kick up the hoppy resin a touch.

Overall an enjoyable hoppy wheat ale very well done in my opinion. Would purchase this one again to be sure.
