On tap at Duckworths on Park Rd in Charlotte, NC
Strong scents of coffee and cinnamon. Nice body with decent lacing. Not much head. You taste some sweetness with some chile spice at the back end. Different combination. Good amount of carbonation. Silky on the tongue.
Overall, this isn't bad. Enjoyed it, but I think one pint a night is enough. Not something that I would order on a regular basis

Had on tap at Duckworth's. An interesting beer for which the style - "Chile Beer" - doesn't really seem to fit. It really is a solid stout with a bit of spice at the back end. Very dark brown with little head and minimal lacing left behind. The smell is mostly spices, nothing really hot, but kind of a cinnamon/all spice smell. The taste is smooth and light coffee with a little more of the cinnamon effect. Then a touch of heat at the end; just enough to makes things interesting. The mouthfeel on this one is the best I've experienced from Birdsong - a solid stout body with a creamy and smooth finish.
Overall this beer adds up to more than the sum of its parts. Beer synergy I guess. Very happy with this beer as part of the Charlotte beer offering.

tap at Birdsong
Pours jet black with a tan film for a head.
Smells of caramel, coffee, and biscuit malts.
Flavor is of caramel and spiced cocoa along with some light coffee and a hint of vanilla.
Medium body with a light tingle of carbonation on the tongue.
Not only is this a very good stout, it's an exceptional stout given the ABV. Normally I don't expect a flavor and body from a stout like this at anything under 8%, but this is under 6. Very impressive accomplishment.

draft at beer study in chapel hill. into a tulip.
pours a dark opaque black with absoltely no head. smell has a bit of roasted malts but its a tad weak. taste is malty and chocolately. as you get through the glass the heat really comes through. enjoyable but not remarkable. mild body, low carbonation.
overall pretty good!
