Had a taster from the tap on 1-1-10.

Raspberry Wheat takes the originally terrible Spartan Wheat and adds way too much fruit concentrate, serving only to make a bad beer undrinkable.

Almost zero hops. Only tastes like an artificial raspberry extract. Avoid at all costs.

On tap @ harpers 8/6/08 - served in standard pint glass, reddish golden shade, white head fades.

smells of delicious sweet fresh raspberries, light grain alcohol, wheat hides in the back.

tastes of sweet raspberries off the bat followed by crisp wheat, after drinking a few more sips, it becomes more of a gross malt beverage flavor, malts hide away, wet dog flavors, a little too sweet, acidic, not the worst raspberry take i've ever had. Fairly easy drinking, it's not hard to see the type of drinker that's targeted with having a fruit beer on tap always..
slight hop bitterness in the finish
Too bad about the switch a couple years ago from fresh raspberries to concentrate - it was so much better then.. understandable to cut costs..

mouthfeel is crisp, light, sweet, easy to drink, not amazing.

At first I thought I liked the beer, but about halfway through it, I couldn't stomach it anymore.

It has a cloudy pink/orange color to it. Smells sweet, which is fine but a bit odd for a beer. Again, it taste pretty good at first, but becomes overly sweet.

Felt like your average wheat beer to me, maybe a little more pulpy.

I had trouble finishing this one. It just didn't agree with me at all.

This is probably considered Harper's flagship, as it seems to be the most popular beer. As has already been established, popular does not necessarily mean good.
Ruby red, cloudy with no head, just some lifeless white floating on the beer.
Smells overwhelmingly raspberry, with a tart background. Hops would have just gotten in the way of the raspberry anyhow.
Tastes intensely raspberry, with some wheat maltiness.
Mouthfeel is smooth, due to apparent lack of carbonation, not too astounding or anything.
Drinkability? Very intensely sweet, so if that's your bag...
They switched from using fresh raspberries to using raspberry concentrate, and there is some difference.

Looks like a melted strawberry daquiri with a shot of milk in it. Very cloudy pink, low low carbonation with no head whatsoever. Aroma is huge on raspberries, more like a raspberry smoothy, nothing else in the aroma can compete with it. Flavor is like a melted raspberry popsicle, with a little sourness from the fruit trying to mask the corn taste. I don't know if these guys use corn in their mash or maybe it's just some funky yeast, but I thought raspberries were a fruit, not a vegetable:) Hops are flat, old and round, not at all bright like they should be in this beer. Not too good.

This is the one beer where the guys at Harper's really dropped the ball. In the description of the beer the brewer mentioned the use of 250lbs of raspberries used. I now believe this was per GLASS!

It looked like a mix of pink lemonade and milk, very pink and very cloudy with no head. It smelled of berries (of course), a tiny bet of wheat, and a little tart. My real objection was with the amought of raspberry flavor. Way too much. It had a huge bunch of berries in every sip, leaving little room for the complexities of the wheat. There was only a little bit of graininess in the finish. Overall, not a very good beer.
