More and more, the craft beer scene seems to be creeping South of Milwaukee and North of Chicago with Pepi's is squarely in the center bringing craft beer goodness to an otherwise solidly blue collar town.
If you find yourself in Racine, WI you must do yourself a favor and drop by what is undoubtedly the city's best beer bar. 20 very respectable tappers and 100 bottles in the cooler make this a spot where everyone will be able to find something they're interested in. They even get a few local breweries that only distribute within the state, with my favorite being Vintage: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22243
The guy who runs the joint, Joe, and his staff are very knowledgeable, engaging, and just downright friendly. They also happen to have a fantastic kitchen which cooks up hot and cold deli sandwiches.
Still the best beer join in Racine. Strike up a conversation with the barkeep. Very friendly people/

Great ownership, great staff, great selection (taps and bottles). Every time I go to larger bigger city beer bars I long to go back to Pepi's because they always have the best selection at reasonable prices. Laid back and great for families during the day and early evening and plenty of special events on nights and weekends.

Stopped in here on a friday around 5. The surrounding area seemed dead. There were people in this place but mostly just at the bar, the restaurant part seemed empty. It is a really drab place in the tradition of Wisconsin dive bars.
There was only one bartender who held all beer pouring and food serving duties, I though that was not enough. She helped us fast though. Others, not so much.
They have about 20 taps, and they are about half really highly rated craft beer and half standard craft classics. They had some rare releases as well which was nice.
Overall it is an okay place, the only beer destination I have been to in Racine so far. At least they have a nice selection.
