Into a tumbler it pours a deep saturated crimson, so vivid and seemingly natural. Very charged with carbonation, there's an ever present head of light pink foam that never dissipates for the entire time the bottle was open. Impressive. A little sudsy lace around the edges, creamy meringue surface texture.

Deep natural cherry aroma, dry woody barrel must, cherry pits and skins. Right on the money here, never veers into cough drop territory like their sweetened output (junk by comparison). As it warms there are some vague traces of funk, wet pasture and saddle leather, suggesting Brett Lambicus.

Puckeringly sour, after the first couple sips it becomes less bracing. Dry and tannic, a ton of cherry skin in the taste, evolving notes of natural fruit and oak. Very clean and dry, the lactobacillus seems dominant, lending a crisp and clean crabapple acidity, not at all vinegary. It has a pleasant lingering aftertaste, even some trace vanilla surfaces as it warms.

Not for the sweetened 'wine-cooler lambic' crowd like so much of what Timmermans puts out. This is an impressive traditional Oude Kriek that is putting them back in the game. Respect to Timmermans for reviving a great artisanal product.

Bottle: Poured a clear bright red color lambic with a nice bubbly pink head with OK retention and not much lacing. Aroma of sour and tart cherries is dominant with some farmhouse notes. Taste is also quite sour with tart cherries and funky notes. Acidity level is quiet high. Body is about average for style with some good carbonation. I would be curious to try this one in a blind tasting against some 3F or some Cantillon. This is as far away from their sugar lambic as possible.

Beatiful ruby red color that lays still in the glass with low carbonation. Strong lactic, bleu cheese, egg, earthy brett, and cherry aromas. This beer has a harsh mixture of lactic and acetic sourness to it. It reminds me of the 07 batch of Cantillon Kriek. Brutal and sour with a quick finish that leaves a ghostly fresh cherry flavor on your tongue. Quite the experience.

Poured from a 750ml cork and cage bottle into a wine glass.

A - Pours a beautiful ruby red color with a small white head that faded very quickly.

S - This is one of those beers that you smell and immediately begin to salivate. Tons of sour, funky smells... lemon and sour cherries.

T - Unfortunately... this is where it all went downhill for me. I'm not new to sour beers or lambics, but this was overly sour, acidic, and unbalanced. You get a very nice tart cherry flavor upfront, but then it is hard to make out anything else after that because the sour / vinegar flavor takes over SO hard. I drank half of the bottle and had to re-cork it and finish it later. It was not a drain pour, but close.

M - The actual carbonation and mouth feel was nice. Very fine bubbles that move the beer across your mouth nicely... it's just too bad that I couldn't enjoy the flavors.

O - If you are someone who says "They can't possibly make a beer too sour for me," I would recommend picking this up. Also, I would say that I enjoyed a couple ounces with the cheese I was eating too - it paired nicely. But I will never try to tackle another 750ml bottle of this on my own, that's for sure.

A- Very dark and hazy red/brown body with a pink effervescent head and a lot of yeasty sediment that poured out with it.

S- Smells of sweet cherries and sour must with a little vinegar.

T- Acidic and sweet upfront that changes to a sourness that puckers my jawline. With a long lasting sour cherry aftertaste.

M- Bubbly gueuze feeling with a bit more acid bite. Makes your mouth gush with excitement at first and then dries your mouth out a little toward the end until your next mouthwatering sip.

O- Great kriek beer. I love how extreme the sourness hits your jaw and how defined the cherry flavor is without being overwhelming.

Consumed at a recent DC area tasting. Served in a SAVOR snifter.

Pour yields a pinkish-red brew with a bit of a light brown tint. Thin pinkish white head formed and then left a bit of lacing on the glass. The nose brought forward a large amount of cherry and tons of lactic acid, along with a very slight acetic character. It could have used a bit more funk, but overall was quite nice. The flavor was dominated by tart, puckering cherries as well as a mild presence of funk. Feel was great with a nice acidity followed by a really dry, puckering finish. Overall, a really solid beer that I was glad to be able to try.
