A sweetened fruit lambic - I can't knock this too hard for being what it is unapologetically.

Gives a really nice pour into a flute glass. Slight off-red color, pinkish foam that even leaves a bit of lacing.

Aroma? Strawberry jam and Sweet-tarts candy.

Hmm. Almost reminds me more of the Sam Smith fruit beers than even a Lindemans sweetened lambic. It's all strawberry and Sweet-Tarts. Sweet, lacking much body. Decent little tart note that at least for me helps drinkability.

Basically a soda pop with a very low ABV. Amp up the "beer" qualities a bit, and this may score somewhat higher. Still, for a soda-pop, it's a pretty enjoyable soda-pop. I'm OK with stuff like this, because a) ladies who don't like beer often like this stuff and b) even I can't drink Saint Lamvinus everyday.

Pours translucent pale red, with a white head. It smells like a strawberry pie. Taste is like strawberries but weaker then I was expecting, also less sweet which in some ways makes it have more in common with other beers compared with most lambics. The beer is also pretty smooth. Its a good beer to sip.

Judging from the website, and the label that says "with natural flavors added", I think I should be scared...I'm gonna guess this is like soda pop...

4% ABV, ouch that's low...

at $4.69/11.2oz. bottle, this better be damn good...

Pours a nice hazy orange-amber. A decent, fizzy head forms and persists. Leaves good lacing. Medium carbonation. So far it looks nice...

Aromas are very strawberry, no surprise there. It has an underpinning of something spicy, like cinnamon or cardamon. Intriguing. Smells very sweet and has an almost cloying quality. Also a smell like tonic water tastes, if that makes any sense...

Flavor is super sweet. Right away it attacks you. Lots of strawberry flavor, again no surprise. The carbonation is champagne like in its fizziness. Very effervescent. This Lambic is like Jenny McCarthy - kind of dizzy yet very sweet. Finish has a bizarre tangy flavor, like citric acid. Also some serious lactose-like feel to it...you know what I'm talking about. Finish is short and somewhat dry. The flavor profile is intriguing yet mostly relies on strawberry flavor...If it were a touch more sour this might be excellent. As it is, it's simply to soda like to be a good beer.

What I like most: The nice, purty pour.

What I like least: the low ABV, high price and lacking flavor profile.

Verdict: not worth searching for on its own merits, and the price pushes it further into the "don't bother" category...

Appearance - Small white head that disappears relatively quickly. Hazy peach pink colored body.

Smell - Light strawberry and miscellaneous fruit smell.

Taste - Strawberry, obviously. Slightly bitter. Pretty one dimensional. Not a lot of complexity.

Mouthfeel - Medium fizziness. Light and doesn't leave much of a trace.

Drinkability - Easy to drink, but doesn't offer a lot of complexity. You'll probably get bored with this beer pretty easily if you don't do much tasting.

A: The beer is very hazy pinkish orangey amber in color and poured with a thin off white head that faded away rather quickly leaving some lacy bubbles floating on the surface.
S: There are light aromas of sweet strawberries in the nose along with some hints of mustiness that resembles the smell of an aromatic cheese.
T: The taste shares similarities with the smell, starting out with sweet flavors of strawberries and ending with hints of sour, tart and musty flavors.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
D: The beer wasn't too difficult to drink but I don't think that I would try another one of these.

Served in a plastic tumbler.

I've had a small eye on this for a while now, but was never able to pull the trigger. Let's see how it goes, shall we? It pours a slightly hazy ruby red grapefruit juice topped by a finger of nearly white foam. The nose is unsurprisingly strawberry-heavy, resembling very closely the strawberry syrup I used to put on my pigs-in-blankets back in the day, sweetness included. The taste is more of the same, but the sweetness is partially cut by a low-lying tartness, akin to real strawberries. The body is a hefty-feeling light, with a very light moderate carbonation and a lightly sticky finish. Overall, a decent little fruit lambic, but nothing I can really rave about by any sense of the imagination. Pretty tasty if you're into the strawberries, though.

A: Murky pink tinged orange body with a dense frothy light-pink head. Leaves plenty of lacing that stays until the glass is empty.
S: Tart, sweet strawberry and a little funk.
T: The tartness and slight funk of the smell are completely missing in the taste. Taste is really just sugary strawberries. I like sugar and strawberries enough to give it a 3, but still not what I was hoping for.
M: Lightly carbonated, slick.
D: Easy to drink, probably a good beer for people who don't like beer. I don't think I'll be coming back though.

18 month old bottle.

On-tap at the Yard House in Denver, CO. Served in a goblet.

A: Cloudy peach with a small eggshell head that quickly falls to a patchwork film. Leaves a tiny amount of lace.

S: Very sweet. A candy-like strawberry aroma is the most prevalent scent. A light lemon sourness is behind it.

T: Sweet strawberry is the theme here. The sweetness of the fruit flavor borders on candy. Before the beer gets too sweet, a lemon tartness kicks in. Finishes with a lingering combination of strawberry and lemon.

M: The medium body is syrupy and has mild carbonation.

D: This was a bit too sweet for my tastes. Perhaps best used as a dessert beer or aperitif

12 ounce pour - $8.00 at Trappeze in Athens, Georgia.

Appearance: Served up an obscured, strawberry sherbet-hued body with a slim, fine, but persistent white head.

Smell: Sweet-smelling, strawberry-scented aroma. Candy or Kool-Aid springs to mind sooner than beer.

Taste: The sweet, saccharine taste of strawberry flavoring marked with a very, very small blip of acidity and little else. Any funk, any sourness is well hidden by the candyish qualities.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Drinkability: I wouldn't exactly describe Timmermans craft as "haunting", it's just simple, sweet stuff, more akin to a malternative or even one of those Jones sodas.

11.2 oz. bottle, excited to see Timmermans in the Southland since I've heard so much about them,

A: Pours a cloudy Kern's strawberry nectar pink with a moderate white head, hardly any lace.

S: Smells like strwaberry Crush, as much as I enjoy the nostalgia of that nose, it's not really beer like.

T: Artificial strawberry, sugar, no acid. Tastes OK, not repulsive, but so what, give me something interesting.

M: Soft carbonation, light-bodied, easy mouthfeel.

D: This is strawberry candy in beer form. Which is fine, except there's nothing more to it than that. It's fine for what it is, the sugary fruity mixed drinks that Conan loves, but for the true lambic lover this is even more lacking than Lindemans. It's been told that Timmermans has made some amazing true to form lambics, and I'd love to try those, but this is clearly strawberry daquiri territory.

This foul affliction of a beer was served up on tap into a small flute at Smallbar Fullerton.

Goldenrod color, somewhat dense white foam, it didn't lace at all, but retained some degree of coverage across the top. If judged on appearance alone, you could have fooled me into thinking this was actually a lambic, based on the appearance and tap handle stating as much.

Saccharine sweet strawberry hard candy. The little red and green wrapper candy, with a liquid center... melt those down and pour it in, it smells the same. Utterly cloying and sickly sweet. Artificial sweetner has no place in a lambic, this is basically kool-aid.

Strawberry hard candy and stale bubblegum flavor. Sickly sweet like nutrasweet, or more likely Acesulfame K (not required to be listed on US labels). Artificial sweetner steamrolls any natural "lambic" or beer essence that may have been present before sweetening. Completely one-dimensional. Fizzy then suddenly flaccid on the palate.

This is absolute junk, an artificial wine-cooler soda drink that bastardizes traditional Lambic. A product like this only serves to tear down Lambic brewers' historic cultural legacy (Timmermans own), in order to make a quick buck peddling alcopops to the oblivious masses.

If you want to know why people "hate on" beers like this, that's why. Sad that some don't understand how close lambic actually came to dying out due in large part to artificial junk like this.

11.2 oz bottle drank from my Rodenbach tulip...Pours an ugly soggy strawberry daiquiri color with a light but frothy light pink head...The aroma is surprisingly good for a strawberry beer, very sweet fresh cut strawberries, very candish in the middle, no tartness. Sweet but decent...The taste is super sweet, tons of strawberries, sweet but not terrible, totally lacking in depth though. Not at all sour. This is very juice like. A light bitter finish.

For strawberry beers its not bad, for a lambic is below average. Not at all sour, a great starter for someone not into beer at all.

A: Pours a hazy pinkish/red color. A two finger white/pink head forms, but recedes to a ring in a second. Light lace is left behind.
S: Very sweet candy and sugar. Artificial strawberry hard candy. Blah, and border line offensive.
T: Again, blah. Very artificial. Tastes like a lot of unfermented sugars. Fake, artificial strawberries. A hint of toasted grain lingers as this warms up.
M/D: A light body, with decent carbonation. Not something I am going to come back to.

At least the Lindemans Lambics have something else going on than sweet sugar and artificial flavoring. There is no funk and no tartness to speak of. Just cloying sweetness. I will avoid this from now on.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Best by 2/24/11.

The beer pours a pinkish/orange/amber color with a white head. The aroma is exactly like the strawberry candy that comes wrapped in the red and green packages that look like strawberries. I don't get much funk or tartness at all in the aroma, just syrupy strawberry candy.

The flavor is strawberries with a light bit of funk. I don't get very much tartness at all. Not sure of the age of the beer, but it may have been drank too soon.

Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation.
