330ml bottle - $3.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a very dark amber-brown body with a thin, collapsing, light beige head.

Smell: Gives an impression of store-brand cherry cola, though, as it warms, some more sensible malt notes hit the snout. Still, it remains very sweet-scented.

Taste: The flavor races by tastes of cherry juice, light toast, lighter roast, plum jelly, cola to hit a relatively modest, vinegary tartness that's instantly covered by a full-on toothsome sweetness that lasts until the rather fruit, but also very sweet finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Sweet enough to make one shudder in revulsion (I know I did). Like cherry cola dosed with stray Pixy Stix. Oooh, you see? I shuddered again. I'll likely shudder again when I see how much I wasted on this thing.

Reviewed from session notes.

A. Very dark brown and opaque in color with a fizzy two finger tan head that lasts for about two minutes with minimal lacing left behind.

S. Most of the nose is composed of a dark fruit base, but in the initial pour, there exists a brief and faint burst of mildly lactic-esque (yogurt) soured brown sugar and donut/morning bun dough. This is a proper nose for the style, but unfortunately far too faint in strength for my tastes.

T. The weak point of this beer. Strangely soapy and heavily metallic sweet malt with the muddled dark fruits getting buried and lost within all the metallic off-flavor. Acidity and tartness levels are far too low. Sourness is nowhere to be found. Just a mouth full of sweetness and tinny metal with a soap film on it.

M. Thin watery body, medium carbonation, at least the carbonation isn't super-charged and distracting like the other Timmermans in this session.

Review acoording to BJCP2008 (style 17C). Bottle 75cl - batch unknown. AROMA: complex malt and esters aroma with notes of caramel, black cherries, some chocolate and dry figs. a low sour aroma is present. APPEARANCE: dark reddish-brown and very clear. slightly tanned head with good retention. TASTE: malty flavour with notes of cherries, caramel, raisins and a sweet-and-sour profile more to the sweet side. low bitterness. PALATE: medium body. moderate carbonation. finishes sweet and tart. OVERALL: a very interesting belgian Brown ale with a nice cherry like profile.

Yellow coloured and hazy. Has a white head, medium duration. Crisp, malty aroma, yeasty too. And some spice. Coriander and faint citrus, orange. Flavor starts sweet and has a nice hoppy note, faint metallic, finish moderate bitter. Creamy texture and soft carbonation.

Poured from a 33 cl bottle into a teku.

A: Medium dark brown. Pours a 1 finger, foamy, brownish head. Settles quickly leaving a foam ring and a smattering of bubbles. Beer ring lacing.

S: Roasted grains, maple syrup, and tea leaves. Some plum and raisin in there, too.

T: Light malt and plenty of plum, smoothed with maple syrup.

M: Thick and syrupy feel. Sweetness throughout. Lightly bitter finish.

D: Sip and enjoy.

Atmosphere is pretty solid. Decent head, fair lacing. Nose has some slightly roasted grain, but mostly overpowered by some candied sweetness and fruit. Mostly fruits and syrup in the flavor. Overall, this is a pretty good quaff.

Pours deep reddish brown with an off-white head. No lace.

Tart cherry and caramel and some toasted malt in the nose. Oddly mild.

Mild tart cherry mingled with some caramel and toasted malt. Finishes mildly tart, mildly bitter with a butter note as the palate clears.

Decent medium body with good carbonation.

Out of balance and not enough bitter, tart, or transitional complexity. Just ok.
