This is a very dark brown beer with red highlights. A khaki froth reached one inch before quickly settling to a thin blanket, leaving patches of lace on the St. Hermes tulip while the almost clear beer resides below.
Sweet fruit is led with cherry, followed by currents and vanilla and light spices. The light tartness is much more restrained than others of this style.
Sweet and lightly acidic with very low tartness. As anticipated, cherry is prominent, resembling Smith Bros. Cough Drops. Like the aroma, these flavors are less complex than other versions of the style.
A slick texture with light body and soft carbonation and unnoticed alcohol.
This one is refreshing and similar to fruit juice. I enjoyed it late on a warm, sunny day and could see this easily being a digestive. It is off style, but certainly would make a fine introduction for those uninitiated to sour beers.
