this beer pours a nice to 2 finger head with a good retention dark amber color
The smell is of tart raspberry. There is a far amount of acidity in the nose

Taste has some underlying tartness that accentuates the raspberry. It prevents the raspberry from becoming too sweet. Good balance of sour and sweet.

This beer finishes dry but has a fair amount of sweetness

Certainly better than lindemans so give it a try

Serving date: 2009-05-18. Served in wine glass.

A: A strange deep red color with both pink and brownish hues. A medium sized head with a slight pink nuance. Some lacings.

S: Very simple smell, almost completely one-dimensional. Basically just aromas of artificial raspberries - raspberry candy, cheap raspberry fruit juice, bubblegum. Perhaps some notes of strawberry-like fruitiness as well. Smells more like candy than beer.

T: Is this beer or is this raspberry soda? It's certainly more reminiscent of the latter. It just taste like very sweet artifical raspberries, some notes of strawberries. Perhaps a semi-tart lemony flavor in the middle. If I really focus, I think I can detect a very faint hint of malts beneath the sweet fruits. The biggest problem is not the fruits per se, but the fact that they are really synthetic in character - no real flavor of genuin fruits. The finish is short with notes of bubblegum, some minerals and more raspberries.

M: Light body with soda-like carbonation. The big amount of carbonation stops this one from becoming overly sugary sweet.

D: If I would be in the mood for a sweet soda and looking for a substitute, I'd definitely go for this one, but as a beer it falls really short. It's to sweet, overly simplistic and quite boring after a while. It's not that it tastes awful or anything, it's just not a good beer. A poor version of the fruit lambic.

The beer pours a red color with a white head. The aroma is very strong and one dimensional. I get nothing but raspberry. The flavor is more of the same. The beer is very sweet and syrupy and heavy on the raspberry. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. This may be a traditional lambic, but it has nothing in common flavor or aroma-wise with the better versions of the style.

Bright, dark, and clear pink and ruby with very little head and not much lacing, either. Pours like soda.

Aromas of sweet raspberries and sweet syrup, perhaps a very slight tartness.

This is cherry 7-Up, isn't it? It has to be!
Simple sweetness, some cherry/raspberry, and little else. Simple, and tastes like soda.

Light to medium mouthfeel with a prickly carbonation--again, like soda.

A beer disguised as cherry 7-Up.

28/09/10 stamped on bottle
(Served in a flute)

A- This beer has a dark brown body glowing red at the base with a reddish hue to the beige head that becomes sticky and a gentle carbonation swirling up the sides of the glass.

S- The slightly earthy cherry notes give way to a more full raspberry hint that quickly turns into cough syrup as the beer opens.

T- The soft tartness opens to a bright dark raspberry flavor in the finish. The fruit flavor coats the tongue in the sweet finish and gets more and more syrupy with each sip.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a tight fizz that tries to fit the sweetness but can’t and there is no astringency or alcohol noticed.

O- This has a nice real fruit flavor but the sweetness just overpowers this fruit beer. There is a bit of tartness from the raspberries but it is not enough. The fruit really gets to syrupy and a bit artificial in the after taste. It’s tough to get through this bottle.

Poured into a skinny wine glass

Pours a brownish pink with a one finger white bubbly head that dissipates quickly and leaves a few small patches of bubbles in the middle and some lacing down the glass.

Smell is of candied raspberries and strawberry jam. Very fruity with just a hint of wheat.

Tastes like a sour raspberry candy. That's it. It's nice, but I was looking for something a little more complex. Very refreshing though.

Mouthfeel is nice. Perfectly carbonated. Leaves a slight sour aftertaste which I love. This is basically like drinking juice.

Overall this is a nice Lambic. Very different from what I was expecting. Nothing special to seek out but I would definitely drink again.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into my Lindemans flute. Produced on January 25th, 2011.

Nearly clear alazarin crimson liquid with a very pale pink crust of active yet lasting foam. Sticky lacing.

Very sweet aroma suggesting various candied fruits, including but not limited to raspberries of course.

Sweet palate entry, with more candy-coated raspberry notes which go back and forth between being dry (thanks to a nearly subliminal hint of funk) and cloying in rapid succession - never really settling on one side of the spectrum. Malt adds a strange flavor in the finish, but this is fleeting. Not especially "natural" or complex. Vaguely metallic and floral throughout, reminding me of Boone's Farms Strawberry Hill, a memory I thought I had blotted out of my early drinking history.

Well carbonated, effervescent, and fairly crisp yet creamy.

Rather a let down; not a terrible beer, but one of the weaker versions of the style (even Lindemans' offerings are significantly more complex).

Beautiful champagne of burgundy depths and topped with laced pink white head. Hard to judge appearance on a lambic because they are so cartoonish but umm above average i guess

Smells of raspberry jam and fruits like a sangria but more candy

The taste is sweet fruit juice, not from concentrate, sour candies and yeast dominate. A good tart.

The body is medium and sticky, the carbonation cascades in the mouth.

A summer drink for the women, but I enjoyed it nonetheless being the bear of a man I am... may be a lie.

Thanks to Joshua (Hopschnapps) for this one. Poured from a 11.2oz bottle into a Cantillon Iris glass.

A: Standard pour yields a billowy 1.5 finger light pink head with very good retention. Beer is a clear, dark red that reveals ample carbonation. Lacing is patchy with good stick.

S: Nose is incredibly aromatic and deep but also very simple. Raspberry syrup without any hint of funk, oak, or Brett. Sweet, but ultimately a bit dissapointing.

T: Opens raspberry syrup with some notes of cough medicine and yeast. Excessively sweet throughout with a flavor that doesn't change. Finish is raspberry soda with a sticky, sweetned, fruit juice aftertaste.

M: Light to medium bodied and highly carbonated. Lively and bubbly in the mouth but oily, sticky, and filmy going down. Very messy finish with an aftertaste that just wouldn't go away.

D: This is probably the sweetest "beer" that I've come across by a large margin. Not a traditional lambic by any stretch of the imagination and probably too sweet even to be called a fruit beer. If you like excessively sweet fruit soda, this is right up your alley, otherwise, avoid at all costs. My Cantillon glass almost feels tainted by this one.

11.2 oz. bottle (6/29/10) poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance-Lovely shade of ruby red with a pale pink, frothy head that has decent retention.

Aroma-Smells extremely sweet and almost artificial, with a raspberry preserves/syrup/soda like character to it. Also slight notes of strawberry. There is a hint of fresh raspberry character underneath, but it smells way too sweet and one-dimensional.

Flavor-Ya know, it's actually not that bad if you're into Raspberry soda. However, as a lambic, it fails somewhat miserably. Some notes of strawberries and raspberry pie filling. Almost no tartness to blunt the sweet raspberry flavor. In the finish, raspberry flavors slowly fade leaving a sugary impression behind.

Mouthfeel-Medium body with moderate carbonation. I don't find this so sweet as to be cloying, but it finishes quite sweet and leaves a heavy, sugary impression on the palate.

This is a pretty decent, albeit slightly undercarbonated, raspberry soda with a dash of alcohol thrown in for good times and such. However, as a raspberry soda, it is rather overpriced, and not of good value. In all seriousness, this is over-sweetened and so devoid of complexity, that it cannot fairly be called a lambic.

Bottled 01/25/11! Served from bottle into a Mikkeller stemmed tulip. Poured ruby red with a two finger pinkish head that subsided to a half finger quickly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, cherry, raspberry, earth, sour, and tart. The flavor was of sweet malt, raspberry, strawberry, cream, sugar, and subtle earth. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew. The fruit profile on this one is the start of the show as it should be for this style. This made this one very easy to drink and quite enjoyable. The aroma was the only downside on this one as the earthy tone I picked up on was the true dominant factor. Definitely a very nice brew that I was glad I was able to find and try.

Pours a reddish color with a golden hue; small tight pale pink head that settles into a light ring.

The aroma is of raspberry concentrate, light cranberry cocktail and some dark grape juice. Very sweet but not particulary strong.

The taste is sweet with a concentrated raspberry flavor. There is also a carbonated water presence that dulls the fruit presence. Some tart green apple flavors in the finish.

Moderate feel with spritzy carbonation. Very much has a soda feel to it. Sweet on the palate and finishes dry.

A sweet lambic for sure. Not much, if any, funk or sour flavors. Feels and tastes a tad watery.

Poured from 11.2oz bottle.

A- Pours a deep darker red with brown hints to it. One finger pinkish head rises and dies rather quickly. Light web style lacing on the sides of the glass.

S- Big time raspberry aroma on throughout the entire nose. There is light hints of cranberry I would say right after the inital upfront of raspberry. Nothing really else is really there after this though. Just a major sweetness in the aroma. Once this warms a bit I am picking up some sweet malt that I wasn't getting before along with a hint of yeast.

T- A huge sweet raspberry in the front of the beer. There is a underlying malt body to this that comes about only in hints. The middle of the beer shows a light soured raspberry flavor that actually felt like it should be there. This dies down by the end of the beer leaving a sweet raspberry flavor once again and hints of alcohol which seeme to be (shocker) sweetly flavored.

M- Light mouthfeel. Carbonation is higher than what I figured it should have been. Raspberry dominated the palate and long into the aftertase with only alcohol coming through with it in the aftertaste. Flavors were very sweet and blended to take on the lambic style. No real off flavors...just sweet. Could that be a little bit of a off flavor? At times this beer seemed a bit watery as well.

D- This was average. I would base all framboise off this one now that I have had it. Not at all what I was looking for and a little less than what I had hoped for.
