Beautiful reddish golden amber color in the New Belgium snifter. Some foam to begin, but a little carbonation-challenged. Fairly tangy on the tongue with a light body. Brewer says this is the Pale Ale with marionberries plus chestnuts and buckwheat. Hops are Newport for bittering with Cascade and Meridian for flavoring.
The fruit flavor and aromas are quite nice, and there is some sweetness from-- well, let's say chestnuts. It is a rather sweet and nutty taste. The bitterness is on the astringent side, and I don't taste the aromatic hops. Another surprisingly drinkable curiosity from Harvester, though the aftertaste is that nasty medicinal note. If you're going to drink gluten free, this brewery seems to be the only one making anything that is both interesting and palatable. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Market of Choice on 29th in Eugene.
