Pours a dark brown, almost black hue with a two-finger brown head into my glass.

Wow. A great mix of chocolate, vanilla and toasted coconut in the nose. Reminds me a bit of a girl scout samoa cookie.

Starts off with cocoa, which gives way to the toasted coconut with a good touch of vanilla bean in the background.

The vanilla and toasted coconut combine for a "nutty" aftertaste.

Is it just me or would this make an excellent dessert beer? I'm not sold on the price ($12.99 is steep for a 5.5% porter) but the taste alone is inspiring. Makes me wonder. What if they bump up the gravity and kick up the toasted coconut part? That would rule.

Just lucked out as I was there getting 2nd Fiddle and tried this beer as a tasted. Wound up getting a growler and glad I did. Just a very solid porter and I would absolutely buy it again if available when I next visit.

On tap at the brewery. Served in a taster.

Appearance - Dark brown. Black in the glass, but transparent at the edges. Decent cream head.
Smell - Lots of vanilla. Overwhelmed by vanilla. Traces of chocolate and coconut. More chocolate than coconut.

Taste - Bitter roasted malt. Still a lot of vanilla. Coconut is a little lost. Bitter roasted malt in the finish.

Mouthfeel - It's super thin. Medium light, objectively, but too thin for the style. I realize it's just a porter, but still.

Overall - Pretty tasty, despite being too light. More richness would support a good flavor base.
