Semi cloudy yellow/orange,1 finger of white head that dissipates quickly, solid lacing in Pilsner glass. Lots of tiny bubbles rise to the surface.
Aroma is citrusy and woody, pleasant though not overly complex.
Taste improves over the aroma, a nice showcase for the Columbus hop with a clean, crisp taste, slightly crackery in the finish. The 8.8% is exceptionally well hidden, some slight warming noted.
Mouthfeel is heavy medium, oily and a bit creamy. This is an easy drinking IIPA that is just one of many great Fiddlehead offerings.

Fiddlehead Brewing Company - Dan K's Double IPA
Brought some friends to the brewery, filled a growler and went next door for some pizza and poured it into frosted pint glasses there, fresh as you can get.
Look - Pours an orange with an amber hue, large foamy head with lots of chunky lacing.
Smell - Smooth caramel malts and a dank Columbus hop overlay. Some spice as well.
Taste - Malts give this a rich hearty feel, the hops are smooth on top. The taste left me wishing the hops were more pronounced and had some oomph, but otherwise this was quite smooth.
Mouthfeel - Mouthfeel is medium that is almost hearty but it is good. Great drinkability. Somewhat sticky, some slight alcohol heat in the cheeks and lips.
Overall - Good brew, not sure it is on the DIPA scale, more like a scaled down version, maybe an AIPA. Either way, this is a unique and almost hearty hoppy smooth creamy brew. Enjoyed, liking the angles they are coming at these brews from.

Growler brought back from the brewery over the weekend.
A- 32oz growler poured to a pint glass with a slightly hazy golden-light amber body. A nice creamy white head forms to a few fingers high and retains pretty well. Cap falls to a nice bubbly ring eventually leaving small spotty lace.
S- A blast of hop aroma as we open the growler and pour it. Dank hops lend big notes of citrus rind, oranges, mango and some floral hints. Just a slight bit of sweetness and light caramel behind that.
T- Follows the nose with a great hop forward feel but not over the top. Nice flavors of mango, dankness, lemon peel, oranges, slight pine and floral from those hops. A nice sweetness goes along with the hops which isn't always good but works here. Some yeast bread, caramel and alcohol as well.
MF- Moderately carbonated with a silky, smooth feel. Body itself is somewhere between light and medium but works out with the fresh hop flavor. Clean bitterness and some alcohol warmth.
Really fresh feel and some great hop flavors going on. The three Fiddlehead brews I tried were very nice, this one is no exception. Hope to see more from them in the future.
