Appearance: Pours a reddish amber with some haze from being an unfiltered brew. It's off-white head starts well and shows good retention.

Smell: A bit subdued, with a nice caramelly sweetness. There's some breadiness in there as well. No detectable hop aroma.

Taste: The flavor is rich and malty, with a good amount of caramel/crystal malt sweetness that isn't cloying or 'too much.' Underneath that is a touch of bready malt. Finishes with a hint of hop bitterness that brings a pleasant balance.

Mouthfeel: On the lighter side of medium in body, with a fairly low carbonation level which lends a rich mouthfeel.

Drinkability: Good overall drinkability, as this is a solid red ale. A tasty example of what can 'sometimes' be a boring style.

Tasting notes from visit to Colorado Springs 4/25/2008:

Look: Light amber hue, good head with dense lace.

Smell: light malt, sweetness, floral hops, fruit esters

Taste: bland, watery, caramel sweetness rescued by some pleasant balancing hop bitterness in the finish

Feel: ok

Drink: ok

General Impression: Technically speaking, it is a solid beer and a customer favorite. No one has bad taste if they enjoy this one. Personally, I thought that it was boring as hell. The aroma and the appearance set me up for disappointment the moment it hit my mouth.

Appearance - dark amber, almost a murky brown, very thin ring of a head

Smell - almost no smell when served, the imagined smell of hops came after the first sip, a hint of licorice floated up after a bit of warming

Taste - very clean and fresh finish, yummy floral hop taste, very light bitterness

Mouthfeel - brewpub called it a medium body, I would call it borderline light-medium

Drinkability - not my favorite, I don't think I would be able to drink too many of these, but definitely a pleasurable hop experience...kind of thought of it as a floral hop tea with a bit of beer in the background

Pours a dark brown with a medium head, fades fast, and leaves ok lacing.

The aroma is of caramel, and hints of chocolate with earthy hints of hops.

The taste follows with mild chocolate, caramel, and toast and earthy hops.

A bit thin, fizzy, and creamy.

Overall, its an ok darker beer with average, unremarkable taste.

This Phantom Brewery Railyard Ale is average at best. The beer has no distinction and the body is a bit weak. The beer poured ok, looked ok, and even smelled ok, but the taste was unremarkable. save your money for the Cascade Ale or IPA at this brewery.

The beer pours an amber color with a white lace head. The aroma is good. It has a light "amber" scent that boasts of pale and light crystal malts. It is fruity with some floral hops. The taste is good as well. It has a grainy, pale and crystal malt flavor with a bitter hop finish. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low/medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a good American amber. It has a solid malt bill and nice hop qualities.

Enjoyed on draft at the brewery on 1/12

Good medium amber hue; very drinkable session amber; easy fall ale; light on depth; light head, little lacing; like an Oktoberfest brewed w/o anything bitter; not amazing but not terrible for early experimentation.

Had a pint at the brewpub in Colorado Springs. Poured into pint glass a dark mahogany color with small white head and light carbonation. Smells very sweet, malty, perhaps a little licorace smell also. Tastes sweet like candy, with a nice bitter hoppy aftertaste. Mouthfeel is above average. This is a nice session beer that I could drink quite a few of.

Not bad, nothing special either. Pours a nice amber with a thin head. Really not much to talk about here. Just your standard amber ale. Mellow hops, candy malts. Light body, decent carbonation. Not a bad beer to wash down some pub food. Go get some, try it for yourself.

Poured from tap nice mahogany color with small white head and light carbonation. Smells very sweet, malty, but the taste doesnot follow suit. Taste is a little bitter, not much malt or character. Nothing special at all and nothing to spend your money on
