A- Thick, very dark black with a finger of creamyy brown head, impressive
S- Slight bit of smokiness, light cocoa notes, sweetness
T- Slight roasted bitterness throughout, slightly sweet, light smokiness
M- Moderate body, cask smoothness is very enjoyable
O- I thought there was a good amount of complexity between the smokiness and roast to keep the brew interesting throughout, being served from a cask really helps the flavors come out and gives a great mouthfeel. I'll definitely ask for this again.

Poured a turbid mahogany with 2 fingers of tan head tightly clinging to the top of the glass. Beer cleared about halfway through. Great lacing & good head retention
S: Some chocolate & bit of brown sugar & smokeyness as this warms
T: Chocolate, roasted grains, & a bit of coffee up front. Stays near the same as it warms. Finishes with a bit of toasted grainyness & sweet chocolate tinged with a bit of smokeyness
MF: Smooth with low carbonation
Pretty quaffable on cask, what a surprise?? Not the best porter I've had, but pretty solid. The cask beer here is the way to go IMO

Interestingly enough, the 2 beers I selected to taste during my trip to Phantom Canyon were the 2 beers they had on cask. This looked very similar to Guiness as it was being poured. A creamy 2 finger head forms, off white in color. The color fo the beer is dark brown and looks cloudy, almost like swamp water (which is cool). I'm having trouble detecting much of an aroma, a little bit of smoked malt, maybe. The taste is also very subtle. A bit of malt provides the base. Tastes like a very mild porter at the onset. As it sits, a hint of smokiness makes its way into the background for a nice effect. Still though, the taste may be too subtle as my tongue searches for more. The mouthfeel is very creamy with little carbonation. Drinkability is high because there's nothing outwardly bad about the beer and the ABV is low. Not a bad beer but no ambitious enough.

Appearance - Nice dark black beer with a light colored tan head, lacing was more like soap residue than sip markers, inch or so of head died slowly
Smell - clean hop aroma, served a bit too cold to get any smoke or malty smell at first, even after awhile, it was still difficult to whiff
Taste - a bit of smoke, little malt character, chosen hops seemed to throw off the taste/balance
Mouthfeel - nice, creamy head, smooth with just the right carbonation
Drinkability - this is my first time drinking this as the first beer of the day, didn't seem to grab me as well as it did before...hops just didn't seem in balance and made me crave another type of beer which is unusual since porters are my thing

Aroma - There are unmistakable aromas of roasted malt with a little smokiness to it.
Appearance - Dark , with a nice cream head and maybe the most lacing I've seen out of a beer in a long time.
Taste - Not a very flavorful porter. There are flavors in line with the aroma but they're not very dominate. A little bit of a let down in taste.
Notes - The mouthfeel of this beer was good and for drinkability it served me well as my beer of choice last night. It also went well with the pot roast.

This review is for the bottled version made for one of the Michael Jackson Beer Clubs...contract brewed at Riverside Brewing Co. in Riverside CA.
Tawny brown (amber to light) with a nice light brown head. Good carbonation and lace. Light smoky, chocolate, and roast coffee aromas. Light smoky taste but dominated by a dry roasty flavor and finish. Medium bodied, smooth, and creamy.
A perfect beer - this one blew Stone Smoked Porter away !!

First had: on tap at their brewpub
Poured a dark walnut brown, with a thin tan head. Roasted malts in the aroma, coffee notes, and just a bit medicinal. Dark malts in the taste as well, coffee and cocoa, with a little peat in the background, almost unnoticeable (were it not for the name I probably wouldn't have known). A bit watery for the style, but not bad. Medium body, and quite drinkable.

ON tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a creamy, long lasting, off-white head. Aroma is of toasted malt dark fruit, coffee, vanilla and dark chocolate. Body is full and creamy, no carbonation. Taste is toasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, dark fruit. Long bitter finish. Good porter, but I don’t like it flat.

The beer pours a deep dark black color with a thick frothy tan head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a rich, malty scent that boasts of patent, roasted, and peated malts. It has a slight smokey aroma. The taste is good as well. It has a dry, earthy black and roasted malt flavor with a bit of peated malts for a slight smokey character. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a good porter. The smokey character is mild and quite drinkable.

Had this one on cask at the brewery in Colorado Springs early last week. Poured a very dark brown, nearly black color, with a minimal collection of brown bubbles on top. Very phenolic, aromas of smoke and roasted malt. Medium bodied, with flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate and smoke.

Appearance: Jet black body and thick, creamy off-white head. Carbonation appears to fall downward from the head while the beer settles after being poured.
Smell: Dark, roasted malts; coffee, nutty.
Taste: Gently bitter dark grains with touches of coffee and bitter chocolate. Nice smooth bitterness permeates it all, nicely balancing the malt flavors.
Mouthfeel: Smooth and creamy, very gentle on the tongue.
Overall: An outstanding hand-drawn cask ale. This has been around for a long time, and is something to look for if you are looking for a classic, English-styled porter.

Pours a nice dark brown with a creamy tan head. Nose has smokey malts, ripe fruits, coffee and chocolate. Didn't pick up much of the peat in the flavor. Still a tasty beer though. Nice balance of roasted, bitter and sweet flavors. Medium body drinks well.
