Pours black with a large tan head.
Nose shows heavy roasted malt with some cocoa notes amongst lots of spicy hops and some resinous piny notes. Very American-styled.
Pretty similar falvours, big roasted malt notes, quite dry. Lots of pine and grapefruit along with an aggressive bitterness.
Carbonation is too full-on.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2014, so it's a bit out of date. Purchased a while back from Trembling Madness in York. Here's hoping it has held up....

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A very dark brown hue that appears black as pitch in the glass. Produces a vast head of creamy mocha foam with good retention; this slowly subsides to a patchy surface layer.

S: Aroma of rich roasted malt with hints of coffee, cocoa, faint burnt grain, molasses, dried fruit, earthy yeast, a whiff of liquorice and a twinge of sourness. A touch of warming booze in the background. Complex and satisfying.

T: Tastes of intense roasted malt with a defiantly bitter finish. Notes of coffee, cocoa, burnt grain, molasses, dried fruit, earthy yeast, mild liquorice, faint stewed leaves and a delicate sour hint. Slightly sweet, followed by a powerful malt-driven bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with pleasant carbonation and decent body. Could perhaps be a shade thicker for the style. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of bitter roasted malt, coffee and earthy yeast.

O: Very nice - this has aged just fine. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are seriously roasty and bitter with notes of coffee, dark grain and subtle dried fruit. Good body. Deeply satisfying; goes down a treat. Well worth sampling if you have the chance.

Black color with creamy light brown head. Aroma is really hop forward with some nice roasty undertones and a touch of caramel. If I had this blind, I would have said it's a black IPA for sure. Taste starts quite roasty up-front, bitter and slightly acidic with a slight malt sweetness in the background. Hops are still present with bitter and earthy notes but stay more in the back, letting the roasted malts shine. Medium body with a really soft mouthfeel. Overall this is a bitter stout with lots of hops and roasted malts, really tasty and easy drinking.

Bottled
Continuing my experiments in rapid ageing
Pumped 90s alt rock through this for 3 hours
Let's see if it's made a difference
Black body, big tanned foam thats a full inch thick & sticks
Hoppy Coffe aroma
Verging dangerously into black IPA territory, then rich chocolate reclaims the stout status
Smooth drinking & hard to fault

The liquid is warm black (100 EBC). The brown head is finger thick. Some lacing occurs.

The smell is loaded with roasted malt. Some sweet flavours and hoppy flavours. Chocolate, chili peppers and a touch of metal.

Sweet-bitter powerful flavours with grand notes of roasted almost burned malts. Dark chocolate and dry cocoa. Full body. Fruits, both fresh and dried, in the aftertaste. Red berries. No notable alcohol.

The carbonation is fresh with long lived bubbles. The liquid is rather light.

A fine export stout, the flavours are straight on with both chocolate and roasted flavours.

Beige head, long stays in the glass.
The aroma of this beer is a coffee and hops, a little grassy accents.
Taste intense, powerful bitterness, long. Next were black fruits, fine dry grass, a little chocolate and coffee to finish. Alcohol completely undetectable. Old Ford Export Stout is thick, chunky, but not overwhelming.
I drank it very easily and with pleasure.

330ml bottle purchased from Slowbeer in Melbourne.

Smooth deep, relatively clear black-brown, with a very solid and retentive head of pale mocha. Some streaking lace and fine carbonation. Looks pretty solid.

Smell is gorgeous. Rich, gooey chocolate boxed in by beautiful crisp roasted characters, with a brighter note of fresh ground coffee or capsicum. There's a berry or cherry aroma too which works beautifully, giving a different kind of sweetness. As well as this there's a crumble aromatic brown sugar character which just lends it this sense of warmth and connection. Lovely stuff. Really lovely.

Taste is also extremely good. Clean and bright roast provides a basis, while those lingering berry sweet fragrances dance around the outside. More chocolate, almost a touch of smoke, but mostly just so beautifully rounded and integrated. It's really gorgeous.

Feel is mostly rounded and pleasant. It's not a highlight, but it very much supports the other greatnesses in this beer.

Overall, I'm extremely impressed. This is lovely stuff, well melded and well-integrated. Plenty of delicious flavour but brought together with skill. Absolutely cracking brew.

OLD FORD EXPORT STOUT this is the first in a forthcoming series of special edition brews. as such old ford export stout is only available from our online store and from specially selected bar and restaurant outlets.

rich dark and deep black export stout. complex malt base providing burnt chocolate, espresso coffee, molasses and leather aromas. the complexity of the malts is perfectly balanced by the warmth of the alcohol, punchy bitterness and earthy spice provided by the columbus hops.
