Vintage Monks is a blend of our Trappist inspired ales which have spent months aging in oak wine barrels. Each barrel imparts unique flavors of red wine, tart fruits and lovely funk. The blended result is a wonderfully complex ale that is beautifully balanced. Pairs well with tangy cheeses, rich meats, fried foods and fruit-based desserts. Formerly called: Barrel Aged Dancin' Monks.

This is my second Vintage Monks and I have to say I am disappointed, after reading the few reviews on here, I'm guessing San Antonio is just getting a bad batch from distributors. I am, however, going to review this beer off the two bottles I have had so far.
Appearance:
Dark brown body with mild carbonation and topped off with a nice thick brown head that slowly thins out. The lacing is well maintained as you drink and slight reddish hues come out towards the outer edges of the beer.
Smell:
Caramel, vinegar and Worcestershire sauce, mild butter.
Taste:
Vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and its mildly sweet over all.
Mouthfeel:
medium to light bodied
Overall:
I have a strong feeling this is a great beer but both time this beer has been really bad and does taste like vinegar Worcestershire sauce and just sour over all.

Super tasty beer from some good guys. Nice fruity aroma, smooth and easy. Packs a punch though, one will do ya.

Nice sweet tart (yes a bit of an oxymoron) aroma. Very fruity and light: raisin, prune, apricot... Nice. Flavor follows about the same with a nice oakiness (but not overbearing), very good sour, and mild funkiness. This, by far, is the best Adelbert's brew I've had yet. Previous beers have failed to live up, but this one delivers!
