Best brew shop ive experienced thus far. When I lived in Illinois i started at brew and grow. which mostly catered to the indoor pot growers. Then I heard of this little shop a few miles away. The first time there I was not impressed with the supply but Brandon was a good guy. He closed up the original shop due to some stupid rules and opened a new one in a larger place. So i tried it again based on the owner, Brandon. WOW, He really outdid himself. more grains than you could imagine, all the hard to get hops, great equipment inventory, his own kits, and to top it all off, he opened a small tap room offering local brews and then his own. Oh and he also hired this guy I call Bob the Brewer with vast knowledge.
I live in California now and really miss his shop.

My new local homebrew shop, glad that Brandon was able to set up shop in Plainfield, which makes this killer place dangerously close for me. Absolutely huge selection of grains and hops, if he doesn't stock it, you don't need it. This small shop in an industrial "condo" location behind the Plainfield Binny's and close to Limestone Brewing Company is packed to the gills. Very helpful service, and Brandon is always willing to talk shop or help out a brewer find fixes for faulty beers. He usually keeps two or three kegs of beer on tap, some of his homebrew or a local favorite from Limestone, for "sampling" while browsing/shopping. Brandon is an active member of the local homebrew club - P.A.L.E., and offers discounts to all homebrew club members. If you follow him on Facebook, you might be lucky enough to drop by during one of his brew sessions in the back of the store. Glad to have him in the neighborhood.

UPDATE: at new location in Plainfield since about May 2013. New space is about five to six times the shop floor space he had at the old location. Selection is still killer, again, if Brandon doesn't carry it, you either don't need it or it doesn't exist. Absolutely huge selection of grains and hops, every kind of kettle you can imagine from basic 5 gallon pots to Blichman systems. Offers four commercial beers on tap at a tasting bar that has a fairly quick turnover, in four ounce tasters or 8 ounce servings. Due to local law, you are limited to 16 ounces a day. Looks like he just received his brewery license and will begin production of his own brews. When that happens, the commercial beers will no longer be available for tasting, but he will have his own beers available. If you're a homebrewer in the Chicago area, you owe it to yourself to check him out. He also does a wicked internet business with reasonable flat priced shipping.

I stopped in here to grab some DME so I could culture some dregs... I grabbed everything I needed at reasonable prices and spent 10 minutes talking to the owner.
He was really friendly and helpful and offered lots of advice. It is quite obvious that he is very passionate about homebrewing. I told him about my desire to start kegging my brew and he practically invited me to come in sometime and see how it's done-- and let me see what equipment I'd need.

The storefront is small, but I think he has a large "back room" in which lots of items are stocked, and I suppose the storefront could be expanded if the need ever arise.

Tons of malt extract and whole grain available, probably the largest selection I've ever seen. The hops and yeast selection is also quite large.

There are some starter kits and some kits for more experienced brewers, as well as all the supplies and tools you could ever need.

Overall-- this is a great shop run by a great guy. I look forward to pestering him annoying questions constantly in the future.

Also, he offered me a sample of one of the homebrews he had on tap and I pretty impressed-- I think it was a Belgian dubbel brewed with some various RIS ingredients. I liked it.

This place is great. Lots of hops and yeast. Great staff that was really helpful. My new homebrew shop for sure. They have a large selection of grain as well. They also offer tools of the trade such as a hop rocket, kettles, valves, etc... I really love this store. A plus is that it is right next to binnys so you can get you beer for brew day! and you you want lunch swing by limestone. They do offer extract kits, bottles as well. It is a one stop shop, and if they dont have they will order it for you.

Great selection of grains, hops, and yeasts. Also, good coverage on equipment. And if I hit the lotto, the three-barrel sequential brew system on a metal frames with wheels is mine.

Owner is super cool guy and appraently a good brewer based on the sample of Mild Brown offered up from the kegerator.

I will homebrew more, because of this new resource. And I believe the owner is a part of the homebrew club that meets at Limestone.

And, bonus points for being immediately behind the Planinfield Binnys and Limestone Brewing, talk about your holy beer trinity.

Great new store - great selection.

Great grain selection - with I think all grain is $1.99 per pound (for the 1-2 lb. bags) --- cheaper for 10+ lbs bags. Very good hops selection, even has some of the harder to find hops. Owner is always willing to talk homebrew, and very knowledgeable.

Will be my go to shoppe, doesn't hurt that is very local for me either! Directly behind Binny's in Plainfield and a close distance to Limestone Brewing Co.

Homebrew club members get a discount.

Very passionate craft beer owner and brewer. I know he has big plans in the coming months... i wish him the best
