Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Duvel tulip glass.

Appearance: Pours a very hazy straw golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. About one finger of white head that quickly fades into a thin patchy layer. Leaves a decent amount of lacing.

Smell: A yeasty, zesty, and fruity wheat driven aroma with hints of citrus fruit. Belgian yeast along with bready malt hints of wheat, grains, straw, and cracker. Zesty and tart hints of citrus orange and lemon. Hints of pepper spicing. Subtle hints of earthy hops. A pretty decent wheat aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a bready, fruity, and zesty wheat forward taste with nice notes of citrus. Yeast and pale malt with bready notes of wheat, straw, grains, and cracker. Nicely tart and zesty fruit notes of lemon and orange. Notes of pepper and coriander spice. Light backing note of earthy hops. A pretty solid wheat beer taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, and very smooth.

Overall: A pretty nice light wheat beer. Nice zesty fruit notes.

Cloudy pale golden color with one finger of head that quickly settled to a thin film. Moderate amount of lacing that the majority quickly recedes back into the body.

Nose full of wheat and a bit of sour apple. Not really any Belgian yeast qualities coming out.

This has more than a twang, but sour. Kind of reminds me of a gose without the salt. Good wheat flavor. Just a hint of Belgian yeast in the finish. Boom Island seems to not have added any spices to this witbier.

Light body with lively carbonation.

A good witbier but nothing extraordinary. The brewer did not follow the customary spice additions allowing the malt to come through without interference. Would of like a little bit more yeast qualities however.

Packing is poor. I have worked in advertising and book publishing, but reverse yellow type on white just doesn't present well. In fact, it's hard to read the label. OK, on with the beer. It has a prominent lemon taste with citrus, orange character.

My first beer from Boom Island, as I was never willing to take the risk on their 750s. Tasted 9 January 2015 from an obviously hand-capped 12 oz. bottle.

Pours a stellar medium golden yellow. Two big fingers of fluffy white head, super dense, relaxing slowly into a bowl, with thick sides reaching up the glass. A dense column of bubbles just visible through the golden haze.

Smell is fantastic. It's full of bright yeasty notes, integrated almost perfectly with soft, delicate spices. It's like part hefeweizen, with clovey esters, and part spiced beer. Very very nice.

Taste is delightful as well. Light and clean, though not quite as flavorful as I'd like it to be. It has some of those clove flavors that I picked up in the smell. But they're subdued.

Feel is a bit overcarbonated. Body is light, but it starts out too prickly and fizzy, actually hiding the flavors rather than accentuating them.

I really like this beer. It's strangely refreshing on a cold winter night. I'm now wishing I'd tried something from this brewery earlier.

A- Pale golden, somewhat hazy. Head is thin, and bone white. Retention is only so-so.
S- Aroma is wheat, with some floral notes, but it's hard to pull much out of the nose.
T- More of the same here. A thin wheat and floral flavor. It is lacking in the complexity I typically look for in the style.
M- Thin body, but good carbonation.
O- Didn't particularly care for this one. Boom Island makes several good beers, but this one is a pass for me in the future.
