Pours a slightly hazy amber brown, eggshell film for a head retains indefinitely.

Smells of caramel and biscuit malts with brown sugar and a light woody finish.

Biscuit and caramel malts with a dry woody and piney hop finish.

Medium body with a tingle of carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

Very tasty ale, nice malty aroma and a more balanced flavor leaning towards a stronger hop finish. Interesting balance and decent body, pretty easy to like. Not earth shattering, but worth trying for sure. (513 characters)

Growler from Hop City, shared at a tasting at NEBCO.

A: Crystal clear medium amber body with a finger of fine tan foam. Ok retention and lacing.

S: Brown sugar, toasty malt, and earthy hops. Simple and to style.

T: Sweet up front, bready midway through, and bitterly hoppy on the finish. Pretty much exactly what the nose promised.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation. Lively enough to fend off the stickiness of the malt. Excellent.

O: Really solid brew. The malt/hops balance was spot on for a flagship Amber, although I perhaps would have preferred a brighter-flavored hop variety. This one won't turn many heads, but it's a flavorful and clearly well-brewed beer. I'm looking forward to trying more from Cahaba.

Cheers! (730 characters)
