We randomly wandered into this place on one of the main tourist streets of Montreal for dinner and were shocked when it turned out to be an excellent beer destination. It is a small restaurant like many others on Rue St. Paul, Tintin posters and Trappist beer signs give away the Belgian theme. Everything from the food to the beer and presentation is top quality and the service was on par with the rest of the experience. The beer selection consisted of a half dozen taps serving Belgian and Belgian style beers including a few from Unibroue. The real shocker was the bottle list, which had 50+ selections including all the available Trappists (no Westvleteren, of course) and quite a few lambics, some of which one normally only expects to find at a very high end beer bar. After seeing such an excellent beer menu, I had high hopes for the food and I was not disappointed. They had a full menu of traditional Belgian fare, the carbonnade Flamande was awesome as was the endive salad. They also had an extensive selection of different mussel preparations which we did not try, but when I saw them delivered to another table they looked very nice. This turned out to be a world class Belgian beer cafe and is a must try for any visitor to Montreal. (1,250 characters)
