Nice lighter Porter with coffee, roasted malts and chocolate. Coffee in the aftertaste with some toasty notes. Lighter bodied for the style, but well done overall.

Pours a dark brown color with light tan colored head. Roasted malts, light cocoa, a little oak-like note, and some hints of coffee on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium, almost full bodied. Finishes with mostly roasted malt and a little cocoa.

Pours a black color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Decent retention and good lacing. Smells of chocolate, sweet malt, hint of roasted malt, slight alcohol, and a hint of oatmeal. Fits the style of an American Porter. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. There is also a slight roasted bitterness. Tastes of hops, sweet malt, slight chocolate, slight sweet malt, hint of alcohol, hint of pine, and a hint of oatmeal. Overall, decent appearance and aroma, good feel, great blend and body.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 2/10/2017. Pours clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, dark bread, light nuttiness/smoke, herbal, floral, wood, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Slight yeast fruitiness as well. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, dark bread, light nuttiness/smoke, herbal, floral, wood, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, dark bread, herbal, floral, wood, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.6%. Overall this is a very nice American porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Great malt complexity with nice supporting hop flavors; without being too roasty, bitter, or drying. A very enjoyable offering.

Crooked Rook pours a hazelnut brown which then develops into a deep, dark chocolate brown color. The head is beautiful and is root beer float-like...Guinness like...leaving walls of lace on the side.
Aroma is world class. Roasted, mildly acidic coffee, chocolate syrup, and roast malt. Those three elements combine to form one of the most amazing beer aromas I've ever nosed.
Flavor is decidedly coffee forward with crumbles of chocolate, roast-almost-burnt-but-not-quite malts, and a wonderful acidic mild coffee finish.
A mild, creamy feel with apt carbonation and biting sharpness. Perfect match for this porter.
Overall I have to admit I was not expecting much, but this porter hit the spot tonight, and it's now one of my favorites. Total awesomeness right here.

Crooked Rook pours a blacker color with a small head. Nice creamy aroma, with hints of roasted malts and coffee. Taste is creamy, smokey and lots of roasted flavors. A little flat, otherwise a good feel. Overall, just a little watery, but otherwise its a very good plain porter.
