The beer pours a fairly solid gold color with pretty good head retention and decent lacing. The beer really doesn't look half bad. On the nose, there's really not much there, but I do pick up a hint of dry citrus and some light biscuit. There's not a lot there on the palates as well, though the beer does have some decent bitterness on the finish. Otherwise, this beer is very light, dry and a bit watery on the finish. Mouthfeel is light and crisp, with a soft bitter finish. Alcohol is completely unnoticeable.

Wanted something light after the big Thanksgiving dinner, and this was certainly that. Pretty hard to imagine ever drinking this again, no matter what the circumstances.

Serving type: 12-ounce bottle. The “ENJOY BY” date printed on the label is “02.10.13.”

Appearance: Poured into a stange. The color is clear, golden straw. Two-and-a-half fingers of fluffy, white foam settled unevenly to form a billowy cap and eventually a spotted lacing. Trails of foam remained stuck to the glass.

Smell: It smells like grainy, Minnesota lager. Metallic, floral, earthy, and a touch fruity. It also has a nice splash of lemon zest. This bottle is at the end of its shelf life and there is a hint of cardboard. Honestly, the smell is neither appealing nor enticing.

Taste: The flavors are still pretty sharp. Pale malts, floral and earthy hops, lemon, and strawberry. It has a nice, astringent bitterness that coats the mouth along with the lemon citrus.

Drinkability: I really wish I would have been more vigilant and bought a fresher sixer. This is not the best first impression, but at some point I will have an opportunity to try M.O. again and will definitely take it.

12 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap served into a Dick's Last Resort pilsner glass in me sister's gaff in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Reviewed live. Expectations are above average given the style.

Served straight from the refrigerator. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: Pours a 1.5 finger white colour head of decent thickness and cream, and average retention (~2 minutes). Colour is a clear pale yellow. Transparent and translucent. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show.

Sm: Pale malts and a hint of lemon citrus. That's really it. An average strength aroma.

T: Pale malts, artificial lemon, artificial lime, and some fruity hop esters. Built alright for the style. Not impressive. There's nothing unique or special here. Not real complex or subtle.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Not as crisp as it ought to be. Decent carbonation, but a touch overdone. Thickness is fair.

Dr: Drinkable but forgettable. A passable kolsch from Mankato. I wouldn't trifle with this again. Decently priced, I guess.

Picked up a single at the Four Firkins and poured it into a Gaffel stange. It's a touch sweet at first, but overall a fine example of the style that nails the delicate malt profile. There's a white grape note in the aroma, along with clean, toasty grains. The barley is light and bready, and backed up by a mild earth hop bitterness. The finish is semi-dry, with more biscuit and toast in the aftertaste. If you're a fan of the style, check this out. There aren't enough good kolschs like this available.

Trying to check off the various new local breweries. Best by 21 November 2012. Tasted 9 November 2012, reviewed from notes.

Pours a very golden yellow, slightly orange. With light behind it, it becomes less orange, but away from the light it almost glows. One finger of ultra-white head, decent retention, relaxes to a nice thick cap, with pretty good lacing. Nice stream of bubbles rising up.

Smell is super crisp. Really clean and crisp, almost snappy with a bit of spice (the kind I'd expect from, say, Saaz hops). The malt is quite grainy. Definitely reminds me of a pilsener, with that crispness and spice.

Taste is very rounded, much more malty and grainy than I'd expect from the smell. Doesn't have that spicy hop presence, or the crispness. Instead it's malty, like wheat berries, a little extra-sweet (fruity with some white grape), with a light sting of bitterness.

Light-bodied, really nicely carbonated. Fizzy burst at first that relaxes and then comes rushing back. I like it.

Refreshing enough. Smell and feel are really nice, but the flavor is rather blah. Could be a lot more interesting. A weird highly-malty, light-grain beer.

This beer comes courtesy of cpolking, thanks. Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a light golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, biscuits. Taste is the same, malts, biscuits, some hop presence, easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.
