12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a clear medium copper with a one finger soapy white head. Head retention is ok due to the abundant carbonation but there is absolutely no lacing at all.

Aroma is light and citrusy with lemon rind and orange peel. A little bit of soft vanilla and bread coming through too. Maybe a touch of grass.

The flavor is on the light side with lemon dominating but allowing some orange to sneak through. More lightly baked bread and that same vanilla note that I was picking up in the aroma. Seltzer-like mouthfeel with a tad bit of sweetness in the finish.

Overall, I can see how this might have been groundbreaking in 1984 but in today's world, it just doesn't really cut it. A bit weak and uninteresting. It is drinkable, though, and a fairly enjoyable brew.

Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a medium golden amber with a fine, two-finger white head with good retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of light bicuit malt, wheat, faint citrus. Flavor of sweet biscuit malt, faint citrus, wheat and bittering hops, finishes with light wheat and dry biscuit malt. Light bodied with good carbonation. A kind of odd beer, seems to lean closer to a light lager or steam beer in character, but has light wheat ale characteristic in the finish. A nice drinking light beer, but not what I would gravitate towards if looking for a wheat ale. Like most Anchor products, well made and pleasant, but rather mild.

A- Clear and golden with ample carbonation. A small one finger white head develops but recedes quickly. A light halo remains and lightly laces the glass.

S- Sweet malts, apple. pear. A hop bitterness way, way behind.

T- The apple and pear sweetness comes right at you immediately and with authority. An earthy malt flavor as well.

M- The mouthfeel is a little gritty. A medium bodied brewski with a good carbonation feel. Dry and drinkable.

O- This is a very drinkable wheat ale with a great feel. Powerful sweet fruit flavors. Although a little too sweet for me. Good for a summer picnic at the beech.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 8/13/2013. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep golden color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of pear, apple, lemon zest, wheat, cracker, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt, earthy hop, and yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of pear, apple, lemon zest, wheat, cracker, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, pear, apple, wheat, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Good balance and robustness of pale malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice pale wheat ale. Good balance and robustness of pale malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Poured into a sam adams custom glass: color is gold, head is bright white and presents 1/2 inch thick then dissipates to a top.

Aroma is quite fruity, lemon and other citrus, malt presence is light wheat and touch of biscuit.

Taste is more wheat flavored as it warms, with a citrus presence and fruitiness from the fermentation.

Mouthfeel is pretty crisp from the carbonation, with some lingering light sourness from the citrus like fruitiness

12oz bottle into SA Perfect pint glass.

A: Pours a clean caramel amber color with golden highlights. Head is bright white, soft and thick. A thick a fuzzy film stuck around and lasted the whole beer through. Minimal lace.
S: Toasted grains, light nose as expected. Vague sweetness.
T: Very mellow flavors of creamy wheat, toasted grains and mild earthy hops. Slight citrus in the finish with an apple juice sweetness.
M: Exceptionally fluffy and creamy mouthfeel with some of the softest carbonation I've come across.
O: Better than I expected. Better than Anchor Summer. Great mouthfeel and flavor. Hope they release this more regularly.
