The aroma is largely sweet with caramel and bread along with fruity esters akin to muscat grape and apple. The head is light tan and fizzy; the somewhat hazy body is a dark copper with blazing ruby highlights. Rich, flavorful malt dominates in the flavor, followed closely by alcohol and hop bitterness with a resiny character. The malt is fairly sweet and has a muted prune and molasses flavor. It's rather full in body with a velvety texture; the restrained carbonation lends crispness.

Not especially hoppy but otherwise pleasantly flavorful. The malt is rich and sweet but not overwhelming. The alcohol lends considerable dryness but goes rather well with the bitterness.
