Sudsy bronze in color, Anchor Summer comes out of the bottle attractively and produces a nice head with a great level of brewer's lace.
The nose is full of citric elements, mown grass, hay, lemon zest, and the trademark stamp of gummy Anchor yeast.
The taste follows pretty closely to the nose...this beer is all about the subtlety. Wheat makes it smooth and soupy on the mouth, and the carbonation doesn't get in the way to destract or annoy.
I can understand why people are so underwhelmed with this brew...especially since it is the weak link in this brewery's offerings and is downright pricey. That being said, i'd totally make this an outdoor-drinking staple if it weren't priced so prohibitively. Also, a good transitory or training-wheel beer.
