Summer - the season of cloud, wind and rain. What could be better than a light American ale to celebrate?
A 355ml bottle with a BB of April 2013. Picked up at my local beer specialist. Described on the neck label as the first modern American wheat beer; fermented with a top-fermenting yeast.
Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. A clear golden hue with good carbonation. Produces a huge head of white foam with a creamy texture and good retention, although it eventually reduces to a decent surface layer. Aroma of light malt with a wheaty character. An obvious note of diacetyl and a dry off-flavour, along with stewed hops and the faintest hint of citrus.
Tastes of light malt with a subtle dry bitterness. A discernible undertone of diacetyl. Notes of grain, yeast, citrus and stewed leaves. Mouthfeel is smooth and crisp, with light astringency. Aftertaste of stewed leaves - not great.
Not a brilliant effor; too many off-notes. There was a brief moment in the first minute or two when it seemed pleasant and lightly hopped, but it went downhill from there. Perhaps I let it warm up too much. At any rate, it's not awful but somewhat flawed. Choose something better.

Can’t believe the low ratings, this is how a wheat ale should be done. Tight creamy head and clear golden body, light malt aroma, nice bready taste, velvety mouthfeel. Near perfectly crafted.

Somehow forgot to rate this one from years past, having again now and my feelings are the same. Not enough wheat in taste, and in its place is grass, and blonde malts, also has a soapy aftertaste with the orange and lemon. This is odd because the smell has a good bit of grains and citrus, go figure. Will admit the feel is very summertime, light, bright and crisp. Would only have on a hot day

12 oz. Bottle
Pours a nice yellow color, nice carbonation, with a pretty nice small off-white head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, yeasty, with some citrus. The taste is hoppy, malty, kinda yeasty, citrusy. Medium body, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew.

Drank right from the 12oz can.
Malt, wheat, yeast, lemon, some spice and hop bitterness. What's not to like? Not to mention that I drank 5 on a hot summer's eve at a neighbor's get-together and walked home with my wits in tact.
A decent summer refresher.

A yellow wheat beer that shows off its haze below a 3/5" white head. Solid retention. Aroma was grainy wheat, lemon.
Taste added to those and threw in some spice rack coriander, more lemon, substantial bitterness for style. Packs a good amount of flavor into a lighter bodied brew.
