this beautiful straw-colored effervescent beer is beautiful to look at in a tall pilsner glass. the carbonation is sufficient to develop a nice head which settles down into a fine foam during the course of consumption, with patches of foamy lacing formed on the sides of the glass. (well, I added a few grains of rice before the pour, but I've heard german bartenders doing this with weissbiers to prolong the head, and it just looks so pretty with a nice head.)
scent is grassy, with muted hops and a malt profile distinctive of wheat beers.
taste is decidedly grainy, but well balanced versus the hops and carbonic(sp?) tang. flower and citrus esters (as opposed to banana present in full weissbiers) are present in small amounts during the tail. finish is clean, with no residual bitterness. very refreshing.
mouthfeel is light, almost astringent due to the graininess, but not at all harsh or vinous.
yum yum. great stuff for a warm summer day, this is beer to mow by. I could drink litres.
